Hi Dave,
Lovely looking van!! I first saw your van on newwaves website and it is exactly what I want done to mine when it finally arrives. when I had a meeting with Emily there at newwave it was pictures of your van that I had saved to my phone as inspiration on how to base my t6 build.
If you don’t mind me asking how have you found the work they have done to your van? And how do you find the ride with the 20 inch wheels? I’ve been reading loads of stuff on what size wheels to have or what suspension drop to have but after a while it becomes bit of a mine field.
Did you have the audio work done too?

Sorry for all the questions.

Jon

Hi Jon, sorry for the later reply - I've been away in Canada for the week!
Thanks for the compliments too. I am very happy with the van and extremely pleased with the work that NewWave did. They're not the cheapest, but I can't fault their work. I was a bit worried about the ride comfort with the 20's too, but with the B14's fitted it's superb. My van had -30mm sportline springs before and it was very harsh - much better now.
I did go with the Audison speaker upgrade too - If I had to choose something that isn't totally blowing me away I'd say this. I think I'll need a subwoofer to get the best out of this - although the sound is way better than before.
Overall I'm well impressed with NWC and I would recommend them for sure! .

Feel free to ask if you need any more info

Hi Dave

Me again. Do you know what your B14s are set to in height of drop please. I had my wheels and tyres fitted to stock suspension and not liking the look or gearing change. Seem to have lost my acceleration punch. But Revo have a cure for that

Simon

@Smarty Hi Simon,

I have no idea! It was done by New Wave and they just said they'd lowered it to give the best driving height - and it works! Only thing I had to do was take a heat gun to the inner plastic wheel arch, as it sometimes catches on the tyre (when you drop into a pothole or dip)

Stick with it on the acceleration - mine felt odd for a few days but its fine now. (although I'm still getting a remap next year!)

@DaveF Hi Dave

Did you drive yours on stock wheels or only have it with conversion work. H
I have had mine 2 years on 18” sportline and the jump 20” (but with 275 not 265 as could not get them quickly but wishing I had waited) has really knocked the edge off performance to a point that ha surprised me for a 5% gearing increase. It still goes but does not flow along like it used to. It definitely needs to be lowered though as looking a bit monster truck at full height on 20” with 275/40/R20 stretched onto the 9.5J rims.

Not driving it at the minute as away on holiday hence wanting it done so the ceramic coating could be done while I did not need it. Only done about 70 miles on them but guess you could be right about trying longer. I guess after 20k you can get a little accustomed to it.

@Smarty I bought mine new with 30mm sportline springs and 17" Devonports. I changed to 18" wheels and ran with them for about 8 months. It is definitely a different feel with 20's (probably not as lively as it was with 18's) but I'm really happy with the look of the van and those wheels. I've got 18" with winter tyres to go on at some point - it'll be interesting to see how she feels then!

Same idea I am going with the old 18”Sportline with winter tyres. I am on DSG which has always seemed to ride the clutch more than my previous T5.1 but I got used to it, so guess I will get used to this on the 20” wheels. It definitely reduces the scrabbling before 4Motion kick in but just feels heavier and duller to drive. Think it did not help getting the 275 tyres.

@Smarty I've never driven a DSG so can't comment but I can still spin the 20's when I'm being keen!
I know what you mean about 'duller' and 'heavier' too but it'll pass soon enough.
