Have a look on your build sticker if you see 1D0 then you don’t have towbar prep or 1D7 then you do.
If you have prep then the connectors required are behind the near side quarter panel in the D pillar.
On my 1D0 version, I don’t have pins in H1 H2 H3 H5 in the fusebox.
I have add 1 pin connected to the wire going to the « controler side »
Do you know what’s on these pins on 1D7 ?
Must I wire to +12V ?
Have a look at your build sticker if you find 1D0 you don't have prep. If you have 1D7 then you do.

Got it, so states 1D0, So in light of this what would be the best route to take to get a towbar fitted with correct wiring. guessing from what i have read i will need to run new wiring or alike, any advice appreciated, cheers
1D0 = without towbar prep. Code 1D7 would have been with towbar prep.

Hi @DubHaus ️
I finally receive the correct cable.
I confirm what I was thinking:
For 1D7 we need a small cable to connect trailer hitch to Dpillar.
For 1D0 we need a long cable from trailer hitch to controler, as you made.
I’m about to Install everything, and I hope to achieve it without...
Morning all.
After a chat with my local independent vw garage as to whether or not my van is towbar prepared. They checked my serial number codes and reckoned it is.
So, ordered a Tow Trust unit from PF Jones as Westfalia units out of stock since February with the towbar prep loom. This has...
Yes it’s a factory installed tow bar.
You can use sites like VAG Option Codes to decode individual option codes.
1D0 AHV Without trailer hitch.
1D1 AHV Trailer hitch.
1D2 AHV Trailer hitch, removable and lockable.
1D3 AHV Trailer hitch.
1D4 AHV Trailer hitch, manually swivelling.
1D5 AHV...
Perhaps you've got tow bar wiring etc. preinstalled from factory - that would be identified by code 1D7 on build sticker (under dash) (1D0 would mean no tow bar prep).
Under dash by steering column there should be a configuration label, which has either code 1D0 or 1D7. The latter, 1D7, means the van has all the wiring and control module for trailer from factory - so basically plug and play.
There already is a built-in system in the engine. Specifically for...
Tow bar wiring preinstalled from factory - that would be identified by code 1D7 on configuration label (under dash, driver's footwell) (1D0 would mean no tow bar prep).
The wiring plugs would be by left D-pillar (by left rear light but inside van, behind side panel).
Some more -->...
Thanks people.
Seems there isn't a sticker under the column... but I have been given the build sheet via the forum. Cheers!
Turns out it does have the trailer towing package, hence the numpty towbar installer has just used scotch-locks & tape to fit a 7 pin trailer base... as an auto...
Hi I read that if there is factory towbar prep then there was a COde 1D7 in the service book and 1D0 if not.
I dont have a service book as its all electronic now so how do I check?
