Afternoon,
I've read about the Tafmet EGR simulators on this forum and think this is a good solution to just blanking/mapping/replacing the EGR.
It seems that the majority of them are for the BiTDi engines and there is nothing directly listed for the EU5 140 engine. I wrote to Tafmet who said...
Brand new set of Tafmet EGR blanking plates and gaskets for the T6 2.0 Tdi engine. One medium and one small blanking plate included.
Note these will not fit the Transporter with the slightly longer EGR Pipe (original part 04l131521AK).
Cost me nearly £30 due to the international delivery from...
Has anyone else seen the engine go in to limp mode with an overboost error and having a tafmet fitted? Fitted the tafmet about 2 years back, yesterday got the dreaded flashing coil on the dash.
3 garages are not happy to look at it with the tafmet fitted, one even said it could be the cause of...
Yes, the Tafmet box is an easier way of cancelling out the EGR if like me you can't get to a place that can map it out. Works well but one downside is having to camouflage the unit in the wiring loom. I bought a dummy plug to put in the EGR for a couple of quid on eBay. If you do a search for...
Assume you mean the Tafmet emulator box that fits in the loom? That could be a good option for me as I live nowhere near a good remap place as far as I know.
Did you order from the Tafmet website? Guessing there is no UK supplier.
Get the Tafmet simulator and blanking plates. Job done. I've been running one for a couple of years now. It drives better and no anxiety :)
If you put the effort in to think about the routing of the wiring and use some Tesa loom tape, it's possible to install so no-one would ever know.... at...
When I looked into this darkside said I would have to remove the dpf. So I went down the tafmet route instead, 20km with the tafmet fitted no issues and dpf regen as normal. It may the way tuners program out the egr is the only thing I could think that would stop the regen process
That's what is confusing me is the no usage of oil and Its not got diesel in it. Its what's making me think it an injector problem. The puff of smoke is grey not a blue colour for oil. Daft question the tafmet box is the same as mapping the egr out?
DXX is advising you to change the oil and filter a couple of times and get the Tafmet done. So am I. The Tafmet is easy to install. The blanking plates for the EGR can be a bit fiddly. I think you need to stop using the van and get this done to avoid any damage as it looks like you have the problem.
