T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

Thanks for the prompt articulated responses, both have further eased my mind. I’m starting to get over the fact there definitely seems to be a slight design flaw regarding the regens and the oil sensor + steady management of regens is required. At first I read all the forums and instantly...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

I would angree oil contaminated by fuel needs changing and in fact siphoning it off will only lead to wear rates increasing as the remaining oil/fuel mixture is contaminated further. The dealers that try that one are wither daft or great at making sure you come back to spend more on repairs -...

Low oil pressure after Engine Recondition

Absolutely must get that old oil tested to know exactly what metal is in that oil and the overall health of the engine. Bearing metals. Piston and ring metals. Cylinder surface metals. Could there be diesel diluting it. Soot levels. Assume you had a running in oil for first 500-1000kms and...

Dead turbo at 46k miles :-(

The oil sample from the failed engine maybe of limited value as the turbocharger failure will have introduced contaminants. If you are going to sample don’t do it from dropped oil, use a syringe and tube down the dipstick to avoid external contamination, probably the only data worth looking at...

T6.1 oil level warning: Reduce Oil Level!

Don’t worry, it’ll be sorted with the T7(?) when Ford do the engines :p

    Service Fluids and Additives

...between oil changes. I don't do short journeys and I always use V Power and Castrol Edge fully synthetic by the way. I've read about oil dilution and catch cans etc so I've just been thinking about things........especially since I had my manifold replaced (twice!). Any thoughts would be...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

...as possible and it seemed reasonable that a contributory factor was 'oil expansion'..... Frothing, perhaps? This does not discount the oil dilution with diesel fuel but as stated, may be a contributing factor? I generally cover a ratio of about 70% shorter journeys. I have never noted a...

    Seeking non-VW advice

My Mk7 golf is the 2.0tdi 150 and for the first five years was mainly only used for long journeys. It got high 50s in mpg and had no problems at all. Since lockdown and a change in work etc it isn’t used every day and generally for smaller around town trips, mainly ferrying kids to and from...

    Healthy 180 CFCA owners?

Just had the latest analysis report back, very low contamination and viscosity very good, no recorded fuel dilution. 18 ppm Fe, 11ppm Al and 0.2% soot after 4772 miles on the oil. I wouldn’t mess about with mapping and Darksides DPF removal. The Tafmet solution is less than an hours work and...

A recurring oil issue on T6,1.

Hi everyone I really need some advise as I’m clueless and just the designated driver of T6,1 2021, 2.0 TDI, 12k miles After several hundred miles of motorway driving (2hrs / 1hr break / 2hrs) a warning light came on: ‘Oil level too high: workshop!’ I left it overnight and dipstick indicates...

    2017 204PS BiTDi - Seized turbo!

Monitor oil quality with oil analysis, disable STOP / START and being careful not to stop an engine after heavy acceleration would help prolong turbocharger life. Carbon contamination from EGR and fuel dilution from DPF re-generations is resulting in very poor quality oil before the oil change...

Dead turbo at 46k miles :-(

There’s a very good chance that poor oil quality is the cause. The acceptable limit for fuel dilution is 2% by volume. Re-generations plus potential injector failure will force fuel under high boost pressure into the crankcase. The ONLY way to monitor this is with regular oil analysis. Sniffing...

    2017 T6 150 manual ticking noise

@Ace has the vans oil level been increasing without adding oil? Valve gear wear doesn’t appear to be a common defect but if the oil were diluted with fuel reducing viscosity and film strength it could cause accelerated wear. Does the van have full service history?

Oil level too high warning… AGAIN

As @DaveD said plus engine power is lost in churning oil and there is a far greater risk of crankshaft oil seal failures which are already a weak point on the T6. More importantly if the oil level increase is down to fuel dilution it is destroying the engine and turbochargers.

2020 110PS manual: engine oil usage

I missed that bit first time around, Run away, Long Life servicing is aimed at fleets with a company vehicle life of 5 years before selling off for others to suffer the consequences. IMO the synthetic oil can deal with the 20000 between oil changes, it’s just the high risk of engine damage from...

[Resolved] T6 Oil level too high

Always a good idea to regularly check the oil level and visual condition. Lights and bells are usually activated well after action should have been taken. It is possible to have fuel dilution and not have a raised oil level if the engine is consuming oil. Oil analysis is the only 100% guaranteed...

Oil level too high warning… AGAIN

If VW fill the oil to the top of the dip stick during a service on a long run as the oil heats up and its volume expands I believe it triggers the warning. When my new T6.1 was delivered I noticed the oil level was 1/2 on the dip stick, the result I've not been affected by this issue. My oil...

Oil Analysis shows high levels of Iron

Fuel dilution acceptable limit is 2% so I would get the oil and filter changed asap (if it were still running). You have 12000 miles entered as the oil mileage at the time of sample, is this correct? Seems odd to have such a round number. Without higher iron and alum’ content it would indicate...
