I was successful in the end. The warranty works well for me. Not so much the VW dealership who hadnt contacted them when assured they would. All sorted.

Update... As expected VW Extended Warranty have declined the work, stating the noise was probably there before they sold me the Warranty back in January. Neither I or they can prove or disprove this. Maybe when they offer to sell us an extended warranties they should check the vehicle first...

That's interesting. Standard warranty is 3 years. Factory extended warranty is additional 2yrs. No product recal afaik. You need to ask the garage what warranty cover is paying for it, as the garage will be charging someone for the work. And it would need to have been authorised. Good will...
