So the ideal is to have identical batteries and same age - but if you change the starter and leave the leisure system as is I'd recommend you get that model of Varta AGM for your starter.
Are you certain the EFB starter is the original battery, I would have expected identical batteries to be...
Hi all, I have a Durite VSR on a T5.1. It's not start/stop.
The starterbattery recently failed, despite Halfords testing and saying it was okay.
The leisure battery is an AGM xtreme.
I have a mains battery charger that is kept separate to the system for our cars and is AGM compatible...
So disconnecting starterbattery means the dashcam has no power.
Seems daft to have it connected to starterbattery, as I like to have the parking camera on when the van is not in use.
So is there a smart way to find the power supply so that I can switch it to the leisure battery, please?
I changed mine to setting 3. Works great. My starterbattery is on its last legs and the Ablemail keeps it alive. I’ve not driven the van for a couple of weeks and this is the plot from the monitor on the starterbattery. Without the AMT it would be dead!
You want to charge the starterbattery by pushing electric from the Noco into it through the cigarette lighter socket?
I'm probably misreading what you mean but I thought you wanted to use your Noco Genius to charge the leisure battery not the starterbattery?
Can you show photos of the connections to starterbattery, leisure battery, DC-DC and the ignition live fuse?
How do you know it is charging with ignition off? Bluetooth/app or lights? What lights do you see?
As @Howzat says, -ALT should go to an earth point on the van, not directly to -ve on...
That depends if you EHU has a charger that connects to the starterbattery.
Most don't.
But you have two?
Maybe one is connected to the starter,?
You will need to test it .... Plug in to EHU and see if the starterbattery rises as well as the lb.
Bm2 are great, I have one on both starter...
...so leisure battery charge tracs main battery charge. There’s two issues with this:
T6 has ”smart” charging which tries to keep starterbattery only 80% full. This is done to leave some room for brake energy harvesting. Hence leisure battery won’t ever be full either.
If the leisure battery...
...the Ecoflow Alternator charger into my LHD SWB VWT6.1 Shuttle. What I was hoping to do is pre-install a battery cable run from my starterbattery to under the driver seat (LHD in my case) and have a positive and negative busbar there so I can spur off the official 5m Ecoflow Alternator...
Thanks for that Delmassive !! Makes a bit more sense now that you have explained it properly. Do you still have a valid discount code for Renogy by any chance that I could use please. Thanks in advance.
...to the forum and first time owning a T6 camper van.
We decided try the van out for the first time at the weekend and found that the starterbattery was going flat over night when on hook up (absolutely fine when parked for days off EHU).
Checking over the CTEK charger I found that the...
...a very daft question but I’ve had a long day fitting a new lithium battery and related gubbins. I did have an amp attached to my starterbattery, but I didn’t think it would fit under the seat with the rest of the stuff so I reused the supply cable for my dc/dc charger and was gonna remove...
Covered many times I know, but I want to make sure I'm current (pun intended).
I need to closely monitor amp drain from my starterbattery, as I suspect I have a parasitic drain (currently showing 0.6amps when van is asleep).
I was think of the Victron SmartShunt (bluetooth version). Which...
I had failed to consider battery voltage during cranking (duh - that's why it's called a starterbattery), so design change implemented and new PCBs ordered.
DC-DC is to charge the leisure battery from the alternator (via the starterbattery) when the engine is running. The MPPT is to charge the leisure battery from the solar panel. Two separate jobs but sometimes combined in one box.
No, not normally.
Most people fit a small charger to the starterbattery say 5A, if you are mostly on EHU.
Or
