If they change the beam pattern then I would say so.
If they're the same type, size and load rating then you're not really changing the spec.
Not sure this would fall into the mod category but I'd still probably inform the insurance if I had one fitted.
Leather re upholstery then definitely...
changing normal H4bulbs to high performance bulbs?
changing tyre brand (same type, size, loading) just brand?
dashcams that do reversing cameras?
seat covers?
merry Xmas all ...
I’ve changed dodgy H4bulbs for Nighteye LED bulbs, made adjustments so no dazzling of anyone and all good ......
apart from moisture in near side headlight ... is there anyway that the rear covers of the headlights can be fitted or has anyone any pics of how they have done...
If you can't afford new units, I recommend Osram Nightbreakers. About £20 or previously I had Phillips 130+ something or other. They are a massive improvement on the original H4bulbs.
H4 is the standard headlight on panel vans @F2JON . The H4 bulb has two filaments in the one bulb. So one bulb does both low and high beam functions. The DRLs are positioned inboard of the headlight lamp in the cluster.
Caravelles and Shuttles come with H7 as standard. Although they are...
Without trawling through all the threads on what people have replaced their H4bulbs with, what is the general concensus on the best H4 bulb. I have Phillips 130% something or other which I fitted a couple of years ago but is there something out there newer and better, as one of mine has just blown.
The headlamp units are the bog-standard single headlamp H4 jobs. No LEDS, H4 bulb for dips/heads, W5W for sides, P21W for DRLs.
The switch is this one:
Cheapest option is to upgrade your H4bulbs (~£20) to something with a better output.
Next cheapest option is to upgrade to the oem H7 light units (~£370) which have an improved light output.
I ran into this same issue with my T6 at the beginning. My line of work makes me drive in the wee hours of the day so lighting is very important for safe driving. At the beginning I was also wondering if the lights were on, which they were. I ended up buying a set of aftermarket LED replacements...
I bet they measured across the bulb which is telling you the remaining voltage available after the bulb has put a load across it. You'll get about 11 volts doing that. They need to do a voltage drop test using feed and earth to get the proper measurement and on mine which came with H4bulbs it's...
Upgrading the bulbs to Night breakers does help but only a bit. The T6 has a factory fault regarding the voltage to the terminal at the H4 bulb. It should be around 13 Volts and usually tests below 11 Volts with the aircon running.
VW should fix the fault on all vehicles.
I currently have the...
VW measured 10.9 volts with the engine at 2500rpm and the aircon on on my T6. VW is trying to get away from this issue but I now have the Soutg African regulating Authority (NCRS) working with me on this.
According to the UNECE regulation no. 20 the voltage at the terminal must be adjusted the...
Sorry - a little bit late to the party but how are you measuring that voltage as it's miles off what I got when doing a test of 100W vs 55W at the weekend (only because my new headlights were supplied with both sets of bulbs). I was getting 12.9V feed to the headlight against 13.2V at the...
Note - I'm not endorsing this approach as I like to be legal and now run proper halogen type bulbs......however......
In my original H4 units I ran both 55W HID and 35W HID kits from different but reputable HID companies (ie not ebay specials)
The 55W units as supplied did not have decoders...
When I tried a 55w HID kit with h4bulbs I had errors and no lights when the engine was running, they worked with just the ignition on but failed to light with the engine running.
Your 35w HID kit is working with no issues yeah? if so this looks like a good combo...
I have been trying to get Volkswagen to resolve the poor headlight problems on my T6 as well. I have since tested my and other T6 vehicles and found that the voltage at the H4 halogen light bulb is only 11.1 Volts. The South Africa and European standard is 13.2 Volts. It is estimated that at...
