I have just replaced my rear egrpipe due to a split. The dealer quoted me almost £600 to fix .
As mentioned earlier there is little room to work if you have aircon, aux heater. Lots of pipes etc. which unfortunately is my Cali. I bought the genuine latest upgraded pipe with gaskets and bolts...
Ask if your van has the updated EGRpipes fitted, they were modified increase the exhaust gas flow.
Plus check for splitEGRpipes at the flexible bellows, you’ll see photos here EGR flexi-pipe: Exhaust Fumes In Cab, Hissing From Engine Bay.
Plus as I asked on post #2. Can you smell exhaust...
...but can say that our Volvo had a smell of fumes for months (I didn't drive it regularly so didn't know) that was due to a cracked or splitEGRpipe. The garage replaced the pipe and didn't say anything at all about possible consequential damage - except to my wallet. A few months on and it...
I've been quoted £245, fitted, by a local independent VW specialist, which seems reasonable based on the prices I can find for the genuine parts online (anywhere from £150 to £200).
I do have one of the easier to work on vans, but would need to buy the right spline tools for the job, so probably...
I have the CXEB engine so can’t comment on the CFCA. Based on my service records, My EGR was replaced due to a splitpipe emitting exhaust fumes rather than the leaking cooler.
And yes, it was mapped out, along with the adblue as a precautionary measure. Unfortunately I don’t have money to...
Looks like 3 seperate issued.
Inlet runner stuck.
Dpf flow rate.
EGR flow rate.
Then a splitpipe leaking gas.
......
Looks like that van might need some attention.
You in warranty?
Looks like some of that may relate to carbon build up.
Expensive week. Oil leak from crank shaft seal - new seal and new cam belt kit fitted, leak from power steering pump - pump replaced, EGRpipe blowing - replaced, top engine mount cracked - replaced. Then mechanic noticed splits on the inner side of one of the front tyres (see photos), so got...
Hi to all,
Firstly I must apologise as I started a thread on the egrpipe before finding this one. I don’t know how to delete or merge.
As I had said my rear pipe had split right on the 30k miles. I was quoted by the dealer £595 to replace.
I now have my replacement with washers, screws etc and...
Just had mine done today, It was the rear EGRpipesplit , Work carried out under extended warranty 2018 4 Motion 204 . circa 38K mileage .
When I first noticed it I thought it was other vehicles and eventually realised it was mine. Tried booking it in at main dealer in November found its...
...countdown that doesn't want to reset and according to VW needs a new adblue injector, some bit of tube that's £450 and it's got the splitEGRpipe on top of that.
Haven't seen the van since January and I've lost all faith in it ever really getting resolved without me spending thousands on it...
@racT6bus I had a new EGR and had new front and back pipes done at the same time (one had split) by a local indie that I use for servicing, and it was £960 plus VAT last December.
...always been a good experience) however recently there was a terrible, diesel smell coming from the engine which turned out to be a splitEGRpipe. I'm sure the fumes were giving me headaches every-time I drove it, so I decided to get it fixed asap. On top of that it was due a Cambelt change...
Ok so I noticed two things. The wooshing boise at the charge air was coming from a poorly refitted inlet elbow. I refitted that and that noise has now gone away. The second notable thing was the the o ring that seals the other end of the charge air inlet pipe (at the turbo end) was past its...
100k. Unsure what the crankcase breather is and how that or the egr could cause that if you wouldnt mind explaining? Hoping to avoid it happening again.
Both egrpipes were split and probably leaking for some time before I bought the van if that could have caused it?
If I were in your situation I would keep phoning other garages until you get a near date booking.
The splitEGRpipe issue is well covered on this forum, have a Search and you find the information you need.
