Hi, my first post, I have a T6 102bhp LWB hightop converted into a campervan. I am not a mechanic but have enough knowledge to be wary of spending money at garages unnecessarily.
The first two codes above appear to relate to EGR. The final code oil pressure switch faulty operation…?
I was...
My undertray was also flagged up as it had a bit missing. I’ve not changed it. Regards the Egrpipe mine also was leaking I could smell exhaust smells in the cab when it regenes. The new part is shaped differently to the old one which apparently helps prevent the pipe from splitting.
My EML light came on a few weeks ago, van had to lie dormant on drive until they had a booking slot, diagnosed yesterday at dealer new EGR cooler required! they have offered 50% goodwill, i am pushing for 100% as others have received, van is 2017 T32 204 DSG 50kmiles FSH.
Just wondering if there...
...is what is noticeable to the driver, audible and pressure (performance) loss.
It should be easy to locate as the induction air will carry some oil from the crankcase breather and possibly turbocharger seals, there will be an oily stain.
Or it’s a splitEGRpipe which will be obvious when...
Thanks, quote is from a local well regarded indie, going to check if he’s including the pipes, it’s probably not far off then with inflation!! Could do without the expense at the moment, but at 100k miles it’s just likely to get progressively worse!
The problem is a pita they won’t do anything about it unless you complain about it and of course it only really happens during a regen …it’s not an issue that prevents the van running or passing an mot etc just a horrible experience for the human beings inside the vehicle ! I wish I had...
You don’t need to do anything with the cooling, just make sure the blanking plates go direct to the cooler if possible then if there is a coolant leak into the EGR plus a splitpipe you won’t loose coolant.
There is a pipe that connects the crankcase to the inlet. It is there to consume the oil Vapor from the engine and mix it into engine to burn it up. This vapor condenses in the charge cooler or intercooler and in the plastic manifold. The EGR gasses also feed into the manifold and that whole...
Hi,
There seems too be a few horror stories about these engines on the Internet atm. I thought it would be good to get a survey going to gauge how everyone is getting on.
Mine:
2017 204 bhp 57k - no problems other than a splitegrpipe. Uses no oil.
Has anyone had this issue with CFCA engine, had new engine ,turbo and DPF fitted 4000 miles ago ,all been running well ,then today the dreaded fumes in the cab started ,got back it was like the engine was on fire coming out of the front grill .Can a split in the EGRpipe cause this ?
Thanks @Dellmassive
That charge cooler was replaced 2 years ago, you might remember the old one had a tiny split in the hose caused by the old charge cooler shearing it’s mounting. This one is the newer design.
The silver pipe I circled comes out of the EGR cooler assembly doesn’t it? I am...
so what's been done under warranty ?
at 36253 miles the Fan Blower resistor pack gave up.
i called out VW Assist, they fixed it the following day with a new part from TPS.

at the same time i had the rear EGRPipe...
I've had a splitEGRpipe replaced with about 10 minutes of warranty remaining but looking at the bit of pipe I reckon it's something I could do at home.
The Adblu countdown of doom got us in Glasgow and luckily managed to get the camper in a local main stealers there and they told me there was...
Maybe it has been ‘split’ because it’s blocked? Putting a gash in it would relieve the back pressure. I can’t imaging it splitting by itself, the engine would stop running before the pressure got high enough to split the casing.
I’m surprised you can smell exhaust fumes in the cab I would have...
Had the same error codes on our van before Christmas @Brodskibeat. The EGR cooler had previously been flushed at the local VW Centre, but only lasted about 4,000 miles before this happened again.
I now use a VW-trained Indy, and they also said that they don’t recommend doing flushes as it is a...
Hi Guys,
Quick update, I have now replaced the rear pipe with the latest.
As warned, not in anyway a quick job as previously warned. My camper is the 204 DSG with an aux heater, so no real room to work.
It took me around 3 hours with plenty of breaks. It’s not a difficult or complicated job. You...
