I bought some Twenty20 Cree LED DRL's for my H4's about a year ago and the bulb warning light has just come on (despite the bulb being fine). A quick clear of the fault in VCDS and an engine recycle has resolved this but just wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue with these DRL's? They...
Good god I'm thick ok I've got it sorry about that I think joining this forum might be a mistake I've a thousand questions all probably very obvious I'm gonna start annoying people honestly I'm not usually this thick lol thank you everyone
The amount of ‘stuff’ you can buy for these is limitless. And as pointed out a lot is down to personal taste.
One thing that really does need changed is your headlights. The H4’s on your van are next to completely useless. There’s about a thousand pages on this.
Unfortunately it’s not a cheap...
I may be wrong (I often am) but I went the same path and I believe the bulb warning can only be switched off by VCDS. You can only reset it via Carista each time it flicks on.
It’s all in the H4 to H7 Upgrade thread. No need to read all of it, just work backwards from the newest.
As mentioned above, it’s all about personal preference for the bulbs. Longevity vs cost vs brightness vs colour vs legality. You will get every answer! Up to you really.
Many of us have...
I've done the H7 swap and can say its absolutely worth it, I was unfortunate to make the mistake of buying an older set from an early van which the DRL holders burnt out on as soon as I fitted them, cost me £60 to repair. But that was very easy and a job done for the rest of the life time of the...
I upgraded H4 to H7 some time ago and have been very happy with the headlights now.
But my early H7’s have the overheating DRL holder issue and so I am going to change out the bulb holder for the wired version.
Sadly VW now want £27 each for the repair part!!!
So if your making the change to H7...
Hello i am trying to upgrade all my head light bulbs to led, However the main head light bulbs seem to have a very small bulb next to the H4bulbs. I can't for the life of me find out what this bulb is!
If anyone knows what type of bulb this is would be a great help
Thanks
Daniel
Don’t forget you can always put the caravelle H7 headlights in. They are significantly better than the H4 even with normal bulbs, and are usually found for less than £200 per pair.
I’m really pleased since I fitted a pair of these. I like the oem look.
Hoping to replace the H4 units this weekend to the H7's, gone for the following:
H7 Osram Cool Blue Intense Next Gen Halogen Bulbs for main and dipped.
Twenty20 Elegance Canbus LED's 12V W21W for DRL's
Twenty20 Endurance 12V 5W W5W Long Life for side lights
Fingers crossed that no faults come up.
Looks great!
I've got myself the Philips Ultinon Pro6000 H4-leds.
How did you manage the dust cover with the H4bulbs? The Led bulbs are so much larger with the cooling fan. Thanks!
It doesn't matter what bulbs you put in the H4 headlights, you'll never get good light output, they're just rubbish. I tried several extra bright bulbs, the improvement was tiny.
This is all new to me…. I’m keeping the H4 standard with just an upgraded Bulb but have the new H7 Led Bulbs from THQ for the dipped if that makes sense.
Hello,
I've read the 57 pages of this thread ! And one conclusion : too much work for me to retrofit LED headlight by myself !
Appart this list, do you know other specialist to do the job ? As I'm living in Switzerland, if you know a garage based somewhere in Europe (France, Germany...)
Right...
Hopefully is a quick answer -is this correct seating for H4 headlight bulb? It feels like the groove should be dead centre at the bottom in line with the guard arm but they look like are at an angle? Both are same. Thanks.
Been reading headlight threads all day !
Don't do much night time driving
Live in a town
Not interested in changing for the sake of better headlamps
Don’t want to spend a fortune as there are other things that I want to priortise
BUT….
I detest the yellow glow from my headlamps, sidelights...
