Look through the lower bumper grill and you'll see the cooler , if they split they normally bulge on the lower edge to create a 'smile'.

Make sure all the pipes are clipped in properly. Also check for splits on pipework. I was getting hesitation just over 2k revs and found the intercooler had blown on the back. Did you have any damage on yours?
Fair, I think they were worried about minor knocks and the battery splitting and spilling acid on the electrics, but I cant find the original post anymore.
Get it back to the garage ASAP. That’s grease from the CV joint. Could just be a split in the boot or a the joint is about to fail. Either way avoid driving it until fixed
...factory set up its a UK conversion , see attached pictures which is the current AGM battery which is knacked due to me running too low , the split charger is also not working properly ( think it got fried when jump starting the van ) so starting again with new AC/DC charger Lithium battery...
@roadtripper Yes, even to this day Hillside don’t fit DC-DC chargers.
That era will be a 3rd party split charge relay (likely Amber Valley from the circuit diagrams I have seen).
Later vehicles go the VW factory 2nd battery route and their split charge relay.
