I finally got my hands on the new Victron IP65 Smart shunt. . . .
..
its the new version of the smart shunt, now ip65 rated.
no screen or relay outputs like the BMV712.
but apart from that just as capable.. . .
and im lead to believe has more features over the BT.
ill be fitting a...
Cheers Paul take out the bm2s add smart shunt if I was to switch charger to Orion xs12-12-50 would the one shunt work. I’m not have solar yet just future proofing
Thanks @Samro.
TBF, I wasn't planning on swapping the batteries out - that'll have to wait until they need replacing (which will hopefully be after I've moved the van on) - but I really do need to get to grips with all this Victron app stuff. My converter simply told me to download the app, but...
weird stuff going on!
this weekend I connected a battery charger to the main starter battery, al fine untill i check the victron app a couple of hours later.
seems that the victronorion dc/dc kicked in!?
i wired the H pin to the black wire that went in the original relais connector, so i...
That fridge has the same 60w rating as most other 50l 12v fridges, so you can assume around 1-1.5Ah per hour consumption.
My Alpicool AD50 is using 1.5Ah per hour at the moment with it never really dropping below 20 degrees inside the van, so that's 36Ah per 24hrs.
If you only had the fridge...
yep agreed . . .
thats why i sold off my ORION 12/12/30,
it gets silly hot at only 30A,
and it doesnt play with its Victron brothers, ie now VE Bus,
and even though its Bluetooth for t he APP, it doesnt receive or share VE Smart Network data . . . . . !
so all in all - not that great and...
Yup, similar here. I charge the SuperB at 30A with the good old VictronOrion. The Mains charger is 15A and the solar is whatever mood the sun’s in. The only time things get warm is if the battery is low & we start driving & the Orion kicks in at full chat. But that doesn’t last long, and a...
you won’t blow anything up! Take your time and follow the 7 P principle and you will be fine. And learn about your system as well.
That cable doesn’t look anything like that large, as that would be about a 70mm2 cable - huge. It looks similar to what mine had which was 8.5mm2 (about 5-6mm...
Here are the tweaks I did to my VW California T6.1
- 2 x 120Watt solar panels
- Victron MPPT 75/15
- Victron SmartBatterySense
- VictronOrion Smart DC DC 12V 30A
- AMT12-2 Ablemail Trickle Charger
The Solar was installed last year, but I noticed that the charge was flowing out of the leisure...
The Victron MPPT is just another charger. It will charge the battery according to its charge profile driven by thes voltage it senses. There's really no difference between having 2 chargers (DC-DC and EHU) and 3. You lose some space but you can also choose the most appropriate for you in each...
I'm no expert to the level of @Dellmassive but I've been able to pick up some decent knowledge from here.
1. Yep, get rid of the OEM AGM. Is it under the passenger seat or is yours a Cali? If you've got the OEM split charge relay you'll need to replace this as it's not compatible with LiFePO4...
Thanks  . Already bought unfortunately. The new units look good but a pretty spendy!
I’ll mount on some perforated aluminium or leave the fins completely clear to help with airflow.
Hi guys, I'm a total newbie, and have been reading this thread closely.
I currently have a T6.1 2022 equiped with an OEM leisure battery, an upgraded starter battery, and an increased alternator capacity. Additionally there is also an EOM inverter.
I am considering adding a SOK LiFePo4 280Ah to...
All very true, and the DC-DC would give me a whopping 15Ah extra capacity
Realistically I need to do the whole lot, which I will probably end up doing, in one go.
Even with the 'full' 75Ah (aka 37Ah) based on today it wouldn't be enough to see me through 1 full day/2 nights off grid...
Hi mate,
Sorry I know this - From you in other posts on this forum :D
I forgot to mention that I am fitting a VictronOrion Tr Smart DC-DC charger. Thats going under the drivers seat and the main battery will connect to that and then in turn that will connect to the Leisure battery. I am also...
Agreed. The VictronOrion is hands down the worst piece of kit I have in my installations, but in fairness to Victron I am unable to install it under my seats in an orientation that meets the criteria detailed in the installation manual!
It is impossible to get enough room above the Orion, as...
