I have the SOS Error Emergency Call Workshop error too.
Took it to my local VAG garage and the diagnostics suggest it needs a new unit for £1,500. There was no outstanding software update that needed to be loaded, and they even tried to force an update by saying a new unit had already been...
Issue resolved!
I had contacted vw customer services, they asked me to send photos of the unit and the sos unit, they noticed there was no light on my sos unit, which meant a trip to my local vw garage.
They replaced my faulty sos unit (Unit + fitting 100% covered on goodwill, which is...
There's also more chance of electrical gremlins down the line with the 6.1 that will end up costing: Infotainment units / Sos control units failing.
Personally, the 6 is better build quality.. the 6.1 just inherits the 6's issues with more thrown in.
Everybody here has got past the loading profile page. I've tried hard reset, sos button, type c keyboard and mouse, repeatedly reconnecting to Bluetooth and phone cable but nothing.... It's now 5 weeks and it's never got past the loading profile. Zero radio, zero anything.
Hi, I live near Newport south wales, has anyone got any recommendations for a non dealer garage for some work now (sos button malfunction, too much oil warning light) and servicing in future? Have found places in llantrissant and Cardiff but looking for something closer to home. Thanks
If this is your budget then maybe look at this-

We installed one for a customer who brought it to us, it retained the SOS and all vehicle settings/information etc
Not on the van, but I had it numerous times on the Superb. If I held the SOS button in for 30 - 40 seconds, it started an SOS call, cancel that by pressing the button again and it reset itself. Eventually got Skoda to admit to an issue and put new software on though.
...any pics of how the Halo 9 looks once fitted. I will eventually need to change my head unit out, as it plays silly buggers from time to time & the SOS keeps going off on pretty much every journey. I like the look of the Halo units, but the size (especially the Halo 11) is a bit of an issue...
It sounds to me more like the SOS fault for you is a symptom of something else going on in the electronics rather than a fault in the SOS system.
Do you have a fault code reader and are there any logged?
I wouldn't put too much weight on connectivity issues between phone and head unit, they...
With the integration of the SOS system, it's made replacing the factory infotainment system much more tricky.
There are kits out there now that can side step the SOS issue but the hole left when the system is removed isn't Double DIN so a fascia kit is also needed.
The short answer to...
Apologies is already covered, did a search but couldnt find anything.
I have fitted an aftermarket head unit to my T6.1.
This in turn stops the sos function working and caused a warning and light on the dash (i was made aware and told this can be coded out with Vagcom). I have a local garage...
One reason I bought T6.1 in version Beach is to have less electronic features that could go faulty. And here I am, getting the SOS Error Emergency Call Workshop error. Checking the price of repair - the amount is ridiculous. f*** Volkswagen. Car hasn't even 40 000km on it, 09/2020. I guess...
...the drive and practicality, but seem to have developed a quirk!
Infotainment unit is randomly restarting and today went off completely with the SOS Call Error contact workshop message
Threads on here and elsewhere seem to suggest a common issue and fixed with cable and unit swap out...
Welcome @AGfrom83
You've probably figured it out by now but the other is the primary LTE antenna used by the vans data/SOS system.
Technically it can still function in an emergency as there are secondary antennas but I suspect any data services will not until it's replaced.
...installed and having issues with the DAB reception which is constantly dropping out now, where I had no issues at all with the original head unit.
Not had anything else changed or fitted, just the Halo 9 and the loom to connect to the VW set up to retain steering wheel, SOS, menus etc.
Any...
