...the engine on again and there was no flashing light on the dashboard. Nor messages about the box.
Suspect number one at this point is the driveshaft.
I had a Pendle remap engine and box. Pendle remap superb for engine. However I wasn’t 100% happy about the box, a little bit over reactive at...
Did you get it sorted in the end? Think I'm suffering from something similar;
So far i've replaced;

Driveshaft
Mechanic has said he thinks maybe lower ball joint so thats next.
Had the VW Garage to look at it while they are replacing the driveshaft (770 quid!!!).They have replaced the spring 15 months ago. I wasn’t aggressive about it but they were not going to take the blame after 15 months. However I have been quite firm about my opinion on the matter, suggesting it...
...in what's it's like.
Btw I also had 275 / 40 / 20s on some range rover alloys with spacers. They rubbed on full lock and I had to replace the power steering rack and driveshaft. I don't know for certain that was the issue but they definitely didn't help. I got rid in the end and put 17s on...
Hi, I am also haveing to change a driveshaft on my DSG 2020 transporter T6.1. So just to be clear, there is no oil in that part of the gear box?
Should it be greased up when fitting a new Drive shaft?
Hi all I've just had a pendle remap going from 110 bhp to 171 bhp. I've been told by someone that he had a remap to 150 on his t6 but keeps blowing driveshafts is this something I should worry about.
...more hours driving to reach our destination (first campsite) and now I'm trying to diagnose the issue.
What the problem could be
- N/S driveshaft was fitted a few weeks ago, would one side new, and o/s old throwout the TRS?
- a wheel sensor could be faulty as I gave the wheels a good bashing...
...walls and I let of the accelerator and back on I get click or clunk. If I'm going slow in wrong gear I ratlles like hell. I've checked driveshafts. I've had them off and it seems there is a fair bit of gearbox backlash on the diff. How much is excessive on a t6. I know on normal cars it's...
...planet gears in the diff ... VW don't promote it but they will sell you a cassette unit differential, complete for your dq500.
Read this ... VW T5.1 being upgraded to T6 4motion running gear I went into it ...
I would never own another fwd dsg without driveshaft/gearbox splines insurance...
...a T6.1 and it’s developed a squeaking noise from the drivers side wheel.
I jacked the van up and spun the wheel and it seems to be coming from the driveshaft.
Anyone experienced similar issues?
The van is running Solow coil overs set at 100mm with 19” steels, only been on the van for 6...
...isn´t it ?
If i could get someone to do it for 5800$ i would be glad to pay it :) in my location only parts ( gearbox, rear gear, cardan, driveshafts ) cost´s aprox 3500$. If it realy takes to change cluch, flywheel, exhaust i might think about it. What does new gerbox have to do with cluch...
If you need any other info from the manual let me know. I have a T6 but the T5 manual covers the majority of what I need. The manual ref is 5743 isbn 978 1 78521 420 2
The nut I would consider changing is the driveshaft locking nut - about £12 each IIRC!
The CV joints are part of the drive shaft assembly so it doesn’t make much sense. I would get a written quote with parts and labour and then use to obtain comparison quotes.
As for the free end oil seal, have a look at the timing belt kit, water pump, ribbed belt / tensioner maintenance history...
...the backside of them both, attached are 2 planet gears, run from sun/crown gear, it is your female drive spline where your shoddy toffee driveshafts insert and wear out with .....
VW do supply a whole diff. cassette repair assembly ... but won't repair a gearbox.... too technical for them ...
Is it just one click when accelerating and decelerating? Mine does this. I notice it more with the window open driving past a wall at the side of the road.
I think mine is driveshaft related but it hasn't got any worse in the last 14 months so I'm just living with it.
More here.
I’d check with kiravans but I suspect it might be something to do with getting the reinforcement bar in place without disturbing/removing the driveshaft to the rear differential
