...just disconnect anything that attaches to the bodywork (sensors, pipe work etc) disconnect the exhaust after the dpf / cat.
Remove the driveshafts.
The ecu needs unplugging from inside the ebox, leave the wiring in place engine side of the loom.
Once the four engine mounts are undone, the...
There are issues with driveshaft splines at higher mileages but if the CV joint gaiter is compromised for whatever reason the CV joint is guaranteed to fail.
I’ve had outer CV joint gaiters last 10+ years on cars and inners over 20 years. Yours could have been snagged on debris or damaged by a...
Josh are you any good at diagnosing potential driveshaft issues? I’ve got a slight vibration/wobble I can feel when accelerating 40-50mph. 2017 204 DSG 4m with 83k miles. No noises and it’s not too bad but wondered if you’d had experience in this area
...carrier worn?
If only the rubber part is broken, you can fix it in a couple ways without removing the propshaft. In youtube "Cayenne driveshaft jimi fix" for easy and a budget solution or for example darksidedevelopments offers JXB Motorsport(?) carrier for the bearing.
Edit. I found...
...wear. Might last longer if the joint managed to hold on to it's grease, but that's only delaying the inevitable. I hoped they'd sorted the driveshaft issues after the T5, but clearly not. If they'd implemented a stub shaft on the DSG box, it wouldn't be so much of an issue, much cheaper and...
Managed to get some ramp time today thanks to a fellow dubber.
Plan was to get the clutch and flywheel replaced and do the pulleys whilst she is in the air.
Defeated by stubborn driveshafts and run out of time so it's been rescheduled.
Sudden grinding noise and van rolled to alt.
Oil leaking everywhere…
I have heard a couple of clunks the last few days while reversing. Box super smooth, undetectable gear changes. 57k miles, oil replaced at 37k and 56500 after second remap.
...shaft and casing, no oil should be leaking or dribbling from your dsg box, you got issues if so. Look at what was left when I pulled my driveshaft out ..... rust .... german rust ...... ze germans got in there ...
Hi,
I have the above item, unused, it’s an heavy item and would be open to offers for it.
Ideally buyer collects, but postage can be available at cost within the UK.
...VCDS, what I have seen fail on 250k+ vehicles is the mechatronics valves stick/fail/throw codes ...... thats if it's not chewed it's o/s driveshaft and diff up...... mine driveshaft splines went at 142K ... now it's got 4motion so I hope my DMF lasts.
**note... if you remove the wet cover...
I am just about to remove engine from my t6 and i am encouraged by the fact that it can be done without removing subframe. Have you any further tips thanks ?
I had a similar issue with mine, went around the houses checking everything - was driveshafts and stub shaft in the end. You might have something different but my garage suggested it's quite common, unfortunately.

We spent too much time trying to free them from the hubs and by the time we realised we could take them off at the gearbox and secure them out of the way, we didn't have enough left to actually get the subframe and gearbox off
