Newbie considering a high mileage DSG. Should I?? Advice sought please…

Rolla - would you recommend complete driveshaft replacement at the same time DSG oil is changed ? Almost as a servieable item given the ingress issues ? My van is only 4 years old on 35k. Or suggest removal for a look to see if there is water ingress and replace o rings ?

    Suspension Fitting

...coilovers on my T28 T6.1. Got drop links off, strut bolts removed and top mount bolt removed but strut would still not come out due to driveshaft fouling on the subframe not allowing the hub to go low enough to take the strut out. Am I right in thinking that I am going to have to unbolt the...

T6 suffering the same drive shaft issues as the T5?

...really easily pop off the cap into the gearbox, it's only a push fit. If that happened, the gearbox oil would slowly drain out of the driveshaft, and a complete gearbox rebuild would be needed to recover and replace the cap. Bit of a shit design really, as if you were to shove too much grease...

    T32 front suspension removal

...video on YouTube. Do I need to undo all four bolts, two front and two rear, to remove the suspension leg from the hub? Can I get away with not removing the brakes and driveshaft? I'd heard that it's easier to remove the suspension leg from T32s. Progress so far... Thanks for any tips, Dan

SoLow Coilovers - Left turn shudder

Hi did you order one of these driveshafts? I too am suffering from the judder when turning left, mine tends to be above 40mph though. I thought it might be the drivers side drive shaft so I’m keen to know if this solves your problem.

T6 suffering the same drive shaft issues as the T5?

...This is when I discovered the DSG has a completely different set up to the manual, where the gearbox has the female splines, and the driveshaft has the male splines, there is no intermediate stub shaft. Now this failure is also happening on the offside of DSG boxes, I think we can rule out...

    Ex RAC vans

...folding mirrors, arm rests, tailgate, tow bar and the multi-function steering wheel. The service history I have is pretty impressive and I got a 6 month warranty that’s helped to cover the alternator, driveshafts and front oil seal that all needed sorting - they certainly have a tough life!!

    T6 issue, possibly flywheel??

Hi thanks for the reply. I have had a quote around that figure by a self-acclaimed VAG independent specialist using genuine parts. I was a bit disappointed because my 2018 van has had an easy life with only 42K miles covered. Thanks

    T5 nearside drive shaft play

Aren’t the T5 driveshafts a known weakness, I remember chatting with some T5 owners about spline failures?

2020 t28 149bhp Dsg, driver side drive shaft removal

Can anyone answer this question? Would you know whether Gearbox Oil leaks out on a VW T6 DSG 7 Speed Gearbox when removing a driveshaft. The DSG 7 Speed Gearbox uses genuine gearbox oil > VW Part Number G052182A2 of around 5 to 6 Litres. However, I do know when removing a driveshaft from a T6...

    drive shaft suspension question

I agree with @Bigsidavies , 30mm suspension drop is not much. Many vans lower than that. You don't need to worry about the driveshafts, or the tyres. If its a spec what you are looking for then I would say go for it and them not knowing much isn't a problem either, could even uses the concerns...

2020 t28 149bhp Dsg, driver side drive shaft removal

You can remove driveshaft from DSG gearbox withoute loss of fluid. Remember not to pul on it, it can come lose in the innerjoint. Torq spec for driveshaft nut is 200Nm 180 degree return and then 200Nm

    Wobble/vibration at 40-50mph when accelerating

...around 40-50mph, around 1500-2000rpm. It then 'flattens out' if you know what I mean as you get beyond 50mph. My local specialist suspects driveshafts but has checked them visually and no obvious play or problems. They don't want to say it's definitely that in case I waste my money and it...

VW T5.1 being upgraded to T6 4motion running gear

pics showing o/s driveshaft splines gone, circlip disintegrated into the dust you see in the driveshaft/diff output on o/s ... also shiney spot where the prop was polishing it's own turd .... Yesterday I dropped s/frame, took the box out... minging ... just waiting for new dmf delivery, get...

4motion - worth the extra cost?

...engaged when there is slippage to the front wheels? If so, then other than the extra weight and a bit of drag from the weight of the prop/driveshafts to the rear, there’s not too much difference in normal circumstances. I can swallow the cost of fuel, I drive maybe 8k a year in mine, so not...

T6 Mileage - what are they capable of?

...charging 130 pounds an hour. Rear Coils last 30/40k miles ( T5 and T6 both had them replaced). T6.1 not yet at 40k miles, waiting for it. Driveshaft knackered both T5 and T6. Suspension need overhaul around 100k unless you like wobbly and unrefined drive. Egr, Turbo, twin turbo… plenty of...

2020 t28 149bhp Dsg, driver side drive shaft removal

There are two parts I think. One short stubby one which goes into the box and then the main driveshaft goes into that. I presume if you pull the main stubby one out of the box oil will come out. But if you just doing the main driveshaft you will be ok. I have not done mine yet. Yes grease were...

    T6 issue, possibly flywheel??

The mechanic did change brake dics and pads all round weeks before the drive shaft started knocking! Could this be connected? Had shaft changed using genuine VW part, but 3 weeks later noise is back. Taking back to garage next week but expect to be fobbed off. Any thoughts anyone?
