Hi widu, I know old post but using search. Any chance of a couple of pics of how/where you ran the cables into the van? I’ve planned and checked the route I’d like to take I, just stuck on going from outside to inside the van. Thanks.
That’s a useful photo - I forgot to take one like that when I did mine.
In that massive hole the seatbelt goes through, there are also two keyhole shaped slots that are for taking cables. There was an OEM cable in one hole (hanging down with a grommet in your photo) and I routed some more in...
Sorry mate, I've moved the van on. I ran them on the underside of the roof fixing them with electrical cable tie mounts (on sikaflex- I removed the self adhesive tape) and cable ties and then ran them in the spare grommet on the right side of the shut line (I had rear doors). I had to drill...
I got the part number for the terminal from a previous post. I had no luck finding what the part numbers are for box type terminals.
I've given up buying the wrong terminals now and just going down the piggyback route. Got it wired in today, cables routed and tidied up. Tested the looms and they...
As a suggestion, when you do find a route through front to back pull in some additional live singles and possibly a blue 3 core arctic flex 1.5 or 2.5 mm2 if you want a 230 hook up fed skt next to the drivers seat.
On my Redline conversion the only original leisure wiring I kept was the feed to...
Yeah @Dellmassive explanation seems the best match. But I couldn’t quite decipher if it’s really possible to pull rod up from the rear light loom grommet, up to the top corner and somehow into the void that the poptop sits on and runs all the way to the B and A pillar. Surely there’s all kinds...
Hi all.
I’m trying to figure out the best/easiest way to route my solar cables.
I’ve got a barn door van and I’ve located the two grommets that I can feed the cable in through, but having the pop top and kitchen/cabinets already fitted, it seems it’s a bit of a pig to get hold of the cable...
Have a go at running it internally. I was kicking myself for not running the cable prior to conversion, but managed to run it back without too much trouble.
Thanks for the above
My daily commute to work is 20miles so that should be ok. I'm tempted to upgrade the alternator but looks like a pig of a job.
Lastly anyone got a video of how to route the cable through to the battery ?
I suspect it's just an immersion element so no powered circulation in which case overrun is not an issue - I assume you also have a pressurised water system to feed it?
If it goes on and off with your inverter OK then you could switch it on the mains side, but that means you are going to have...
What was I thinking. Fitting it at the bottom the wiper can clean the window to give better visibility in case it's raining. Having it at the top the wiper won't reach. Also, much easier to fit.
...tends to be more factory electrics under the passenger seat so if the drivers seat is free that can be easier to retro fit, especially if choosing a larger battery.
There are cableroutes to both seats from the front and across between the two so you can be pretty flexible where you put things.
Hi Sipep, I need to run some solar cable from my solar controller which is under my driver's seat to under the bonnet so I can connect my portable solar panel. Would this be better a route to use rather than the grommet behind the battery on my 6.1. Also were does it come out in the van, I am...
So I finally got the time to add the MPPT.
Thanks to everyone that helped answer my questions. I didn't have enough room under the drivers seat so had rlto route the battery cables to the passenger base which was surprisingly easy.
Bit tight for space
Cables pulled though without a snag...
Its recommended to do Pop top before carpeting. I've done sound proof/insulation, windows and now im booked in for Pop Top next week.
After pop top, comes carpet lining for me.......
Also consider electrics before carpet lining, route what cables you need to
