We have a LWB and the extra 40cm makes a big difference to the conversion, but the van is marginally longer than an estate car. Used as a daily driver it’s no problem.
If there’s only going to be 2 of you using it and you don’t need rear belted seats then have a look at a u-shaped seating...
Weekend 3 Update
Managed to get the majority of the insulation finished and roped my dad into cutting plywood batons to size whilst I was cleaning down the floor.
I decided to add some of the 50mm fleece to the tailgate for a little bit more insulation.
Pretty sure I need to do the side door...
That looks fantastic! I have a solar suitcase and have been poking the cables through the windows.
Do you pop your panels on your roof? I had thought if mounting to a roof rack on the rear two mounts, but didn't like to have to permanently mount the panels, especially as my van currently fits...

Hi all,
As mentioned in new member thread, we are looking to buy our first camper at some point, and starting to look at our requirements.
It’ll be primarily for me, my wife and our 4 year old, but occasionally joined by my 14 year old son, so definitely need a 4 berth. It’ll also be my daily...
What I would do is buy a set of DC connectors and split the DC cable, allowing you to put the panel in the van for transport. Then strap the flying leads to the rack, if it stay permanently on the tailgate, to secure the ends in transit. That way you arrive at the camping spot, pull the panel...
Hi,
1. Its a Photonic universe 180W panel (from memory as I dont use this any more - I need to go to the garage and look it up.)
2. I made the brackets myself.
3. They are bolts going into a home made captive nut.
4. The brackets are Z shaped so the panel sits on them. They wouldn't mount under...
Yes I do. It's designed for skiing. Central aisle for the skis, onboard port potti, 2 front rib beds that can be pushed together to form a double ( too cold in the pop top in -15c) and pop top bed. Fridge, cooker & grill with , insulated water tank, separate 12v & 240v hot water tank. I also...
Hi, we’re selling up!
We brought the van brand new from VW in 2022 as panel van and had VW make it what we needed before we sent it off and had it converted to a day van at Jacks Shack in Loughborough.
Due to growing kids and growing weekend commitments we’re just not getting the use out of it...
First off, I have searched for the answer to my question here but not found it yet.
I am not looking for advice of specific setups but instead on how best to attach two 100W panels to my T6 roof.
A little background, I sea kayak and have a VW roof rack attached to the second and fourth holes...

It looks like there are some differences between the LWB (SCA192) and SWB (SCA194) versions. There’s no ‘kick up’ at the rear of the LWB version. The channel appears to be the same depth from front to rear so the rail doesn’t stick up any more at the back as the front. Also, there isn’t an...
Hi all, recently joined this forum and have found lots of valuable info but head is spinning a bit.
I’m looking for my first VW Campervan having liked the idea for a couple of years. Living on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales I see plenty of vans passing by and need to try the experience, there...
Im just starting to plan out how i want to fit a solar panel to my van. I have a SCA194 poptop which im looking to fit a 160W solar panel to, and understand ill have to drill a hole in the roof for the cable which is fine. My problem is, i want to feed the cables from this to under the...
