I have a T6 Caravelle, CXEB 150Kw Engine, that goes into limp mode.
It needs the DPF to regen, but that has gone too sooty for normal regen, due to running with fuel light on.
Hence need to force regen.
Using VCDS 01 Engine

When I looked into this darkside said I would have to remove the dpf. So I went down the tafmet route instead, 20km with the tafmet fitted no issues and dpf regen as normal. It may the way tuners program out the egr is the only thing I could think that would stop the regen process
Hey mate.
Strongly suspect a fully blocked DPF so it’s back at the dealer now for investigation and possible DPF clean / replacement.
Still not sure if this is the result of some other, underlying issue…. Or just the DPF reaching the end of its life and no longer able to regen.
Will report...
Just to add and forgot to mention, it has apparently had an adblue delete by the previous owner too. If dpf blocked would there not also be a dpf light illuminated as well as the yellow coil (limp mode) lamp? Suppose this is the joys of buying a used vehicle with no real knowledge of what has...
Van is on 96k, original DPF i assume. No paperwork to suggest otherwise.
I've been reading the log on Carista, only gives soot levels.
How would you go about clearing ash residue? Premium fuels etc or DPF off and full flush?
I think it’s well proven that is not the case. DSD do market an empty DPF (off road use), the cynic in me says they have a batch sat in a shed to shift.
That said they also specialise in re-mapping, if the map is for higher output that requires a higher gas flow due to increased fuel...
Update!
I don't see enough updates with resolutions to DPF issues, so thought I'd post one!
Decided to fork out on a garage that specialises in DPF faults. They diagnosed one of the temp sensors was throwing up crazy values and throwing off the ECU. It was showing 700c one sec and 100c...
Ahh, yes, the EML might be on as it wasn't able to do a DPF regen due to the low Adblue level?
If so, then your adblue is correct, mine also shows 6000 miles after filling it. So take it for a long drive and let the DPF regen happen then you should *touches wood* be good.
...and have code P2463.
I’m waiting for the arrival of a Carly OBD scanner which I think allows me to force a regen…
But I’m wondering if the DPF is blocked… why don’t I get the DPF light showing on my dash and instead get the flashing glow plug light and P2463 error code.
And what causes the...
If they can't force regen the dpf, then it won't self regen either. I would be trying to spray a dpf cleaner into the dpf, but I'm guessing you won't have any tools or a friendly garage to help you with this.
If you were able to locate the dpf pressure hose before to dpf and remove that, then...
I got the DPF in France Second hand but brand new in the box (with matching numbers) for €700.....maybe a mistake as no warranty.
I am going to stick my borescope down this afternoon and have a look for visible damage.
From personal experience you’ll get DPF problems from using van as a daily. I use mine as I would any car, long journeys now and then. Thought mine was regen but it wasn’t.
I started getting the coil light and going into limp mode, 4-5 months went by, no one could figure out what it was. The...
Please post "Detailed ECU info"-report (under Carista Service menu).
Soot level 60 g inhibits DPF regeneration - the DPF needs to be replaced (or cleaned). Also ECU defnitely should report that as fault. Was there any mention about engine remap?
Is the tailpipe sooty...
Dpf regen run by engie ECU.
Uses throttle body to control air inlet and turbo and EGR to adjust airflow.
And injection timing to add fuel to outgoing exhaust.
All combined to increae dpf temp.
Various pressure and temp sensors used.
