My 2017 van did it once or twice until the battery was changed under warranty. I thought it was linked to the stop/start system and the fact my battery wasn't holding enough charge and probably confusing the system. Once the MOL battery was replaced it never happened again.
As above.
Get the battery checked... Mol had issues.
If its left in daylight have a look over here for a dash solar panel.....

Apart from all that . . . . There is no issue leaving the battery disconnected apart from the obvious, no alarm etc.
No we have not had the battery tested yet but it is all looking towards it, the battery fitted is a Varga not a MOL so it may have been changed at some time but I will get the batt checked Using your advice do you think the van should go back to the dealers as it still has 2 years warranty...
possibly,....... the alternator output will need to be tested, as would the battery capacity and ability to accept a charge.
keep us posted.
(MOL 75ah battery was the problem with mine . . . .but that was a leisure battery. i have a Varta starter battery 100ah)
VW Exeter said no fault found on my door lock plus my MOL battery is good according to their test .... not sure a flat battery constitutes as good , gonna bitevthe bullet and buy a battery , so glad I have a 3 year warranty and paid for an extra 2 ...... chocolate teapot springs to mind
...the towbar, I've been plagued with a flat battery, and when everything is switched off, im still srawing 2 amps from the battery. Its not the MOl battery etc and no fault codes but I cant figure it out. Is there a relay or fuse I can pull that is for this circuit to see if that's the issue...
Yes indeed re MOLL batteries . . . had a dodgy one myself. (MY18)

...to sort this out and they replaced the battery under warranty even though it looks like the battery had already been changed as it was not the MOL type that members have been saying BUT it only worked for 1 day on both the media switching off prematurely and today 27/11/2019 it has been...

Best take your van for a long drive or Plug in the charger before the real cold weather sets in.
Note. some MOL battery's are known to have an issue, check yours and search T6F just in case.
Also smart alternators now are controlled very differently from...
...even a 250A one now on the T6.1 crew van !
Battery wise . . .
its a 70Ah (420A) AGM across the board. factory fitted.
there was a time when MOL batterieris were being fitted which had issues, and were being replaced with VARTA batteries...
...I've had a EGR, full engine block and 4motion rear diff all sent back to factory for investigation (T5.1) under warrenty works . . . . . but the MOL battery was diagnosed onsite and then sent for recycling . . . (i asked if i could keep it . . . . they said no =[ )
The T6 rear door lock...
Yes, take it to dealers first:
tell them that the stop/start never seems to work and that you have low battery warnings . . . .
also make sure you havent got stuff plugged into the 12v sockets or OBD2 ports as these are live 24/7 and will drain the battery.
Apologies for being a little late to the party on this one, but I had the same problem with my Westfalia towbar setup draining my starter battery. I did a lot of testing myself in discussion with my conversion company and ultimately it was resolved by fitting a replacement Westfalia control unit...
