When insulating the rear of the van with recycled loft insulation (similar to this) what's the best thing to do around the rear light cables and and the earthing cable which is attached to the cross beam on each side of the van?
Logic says I'm packing insulation arount the whole van which is no...
They are all attracted to the plastic sheathing on modern wiring - well known. It began when the insulation went from oil based to vegetable (soy ) based. Mainly rats, mice, squirrels but no reason why foxes will not have a chomp as well.
...it has already been ply'd, lined with carpet and the flooring has been done. It looks great but there aren't any specific thermal or sound insulation pads stuck to the panels or wheel arches etc. In terms of when I'm driving, the noise of the van is pretty quiet but I'm conscious that the van...
...is bonded to the metal and will therefore deaden it to an extent. Been doing it this way over 15 years and not once had a problem. I think people overthink insulation in vans, don't forget that half of the van is not insulated (windows). It's your call, I'd rather know the floor is fixed properly
Hi all - just starting off my sound deadening day for the T6 conversion. Removes the panels to find some small bits of factory fitted insulation.
Question is have people come across these before and if so should I leave them on and deaden/insulate around or remove them and the adhesive and go...
Just purchased a T6 high top, completely off the cuff! Now have insulation and windows installed, now planning electrics! This is my downfall, taking it slow and researching as much as I can.
So far, I’m enjoying the challenge

We have the insulation covers on the front windscreen and windows and just ordered the pop top insulation cover
We have not slept in the pop top yet and I don’t think I could until the high summer ?

Hi, upgraded my battery from 70ah to and 80ah.
Does anyone who has upgrade from an 80-95 have their old sleeve/insulation thing they no longer need and want to sell cheap. It's on back order from VW currently. 1J0915418C
Thanks
Thanks for that.
I would definitely struggle with a lack of indoor space - have a private driveway but not covered area or garage, but think I could get away with insulation, carpeting and electrics without a garage.
...thinking about plyguys myself.
Can i just confirm that the original kombi swuishy rubber floor is sufficient for sound deadening and insulation conpared to a strip out and dodo mat and insulation route.
Also how do the plyguys finish the edges of the flooring in the area of the door steps...
Hi all - wanted to get my T6 insulated / sound proofed and carpet lined. I’ve looked at a few posts but wondered if there was a more recent suggestion for Derbyshire based company / person. Cheers!
Both products are dodomat.
I can get the clips to fit in the back and one side but then I cannot in the other side, think because of too much material makes it not wanna fit in holes, I'm thinking of drilling new holes, but its such a tight space, I'm not sure there would be enough space for...
A bit more of an update to share while I am here and catching up.
I had ordered Dodo mat sound deadening, some insulation and everything to carpet interior panels when I had my old van but never got around to doing it thankfully.
Strangely this van seems to have had a factory fitted insulation...
Although my camper had insulation installed it was not done with an enthusiastic touch. So I sound-deadened and re-insulated, having to make access panels on the kitchen unit side. I now run the heater a little less in cold weather but i can understand converters not insulating. However, my...
Hi all,
Recently purchased a part converted van and now got to work on it myself. Poptop roof already done as is the insulation and carpetin and so I’m not sorting cable for electrics.
Want to have a switch panel on the rear panel on drivers side but trying to figure out how I can run the...
