I used to get the P20EE quite regularly but after hounding VW to get the software update I haven’t had any further fault codes relating to this. That’s been over a year now. My van is a 2017 102ps 5 speed. Its be remapped to circa 150ps for well over 1.5 years now

Probably need to find out why most ECU's wont allow change of gearbox and just display 'Error 31: request out of range' message when attempting it. Without it, my guess is you'll end up without stop/start, gear position display or cruise in 6th - like user 'Gileswater' in the thread @mmi linked...
