...worked just fine except that every couple of days I had to drive the van or take it to an EHU to charge the leisure battery. So I need a solarpanel! I bought a folding panel which I was a bit enthusiastic about and bought a 200W one - turned out to be too large to put in any storage area of...
When you add a solarpanel to the renogy, it reduces the charging from the engine to 15A (and 15a for Solar). For the total output you're thinking of, I don't think it will be an issue.
I'm happy with my renogy DC-DC charger, but when I added a solarpanel I added a MPPT device which aren't...
Hi all finally coming to the end of my build(will post how it wet when finished)
Got a quick 1 on solar. I'm booked in on Monday to have 1 fitted all I know is that it's a160w stealth panel that is stuck to the roof with all the wiring hidden under the panel so basically theyput a 30mm hole in...
I would like to mount 2 or 3 solarpanels on pop-top. Bolt them to c-rails, on some alu profiles. My roof has 'stylish' grooves that complicate "silkaflexing" it down + I'd rather have the option to remove them on demand.
There are existing solutions for that, but It seems easy enough to DIY...
Received yesterday, brand new boxed 180 Watt Photonics Universe Semi Flexible SolarPanel.
Collection only or delivery by arrangement to the greater boroughs of the West Midlands/Birminghamshire.
Sent by PU to me to replace a delaminating 'old style' 180 Panel.
My old Panel is working perfectly...
Hi, I am looking to have a solarpanel fitted to my leisuredrive hightop, which because of its curvy roof would need to be a flexible one. I have been told that they don't last long and that they can overheat on a grp roof. Is either true and is it possible to fit to a curvy roof?
If so, it...
A year ago I replaced my failed 120W Photonic Universe semi-flexible panel (initially fitted by Low-Life when they did the roof) with a 200W semi-flexible Photonic Universe panel.
This seemed to work really well initially but, unfortunately, has also now failed!
It is still under warranty and...
Hello, just after some advice on a temporary solar set up. Mainly around fixing to the roof.
Off to Le Man's 24 he race mid June, unfortunately no hookup on the site this year.
Looking at Solar to keep the fridge running, and charge up a power station for 3 x mobiles and a speaker. I'd hope...
...and charges for the rest of the day at 14.4v (0.5 - 0.7A)
The van's just sitting on the drive - no EHU connected, so only charging via the solarpanel.
Is this OK for the battery?
Should I let the battery discharge a bit (90%) before re-charging (maybe disconnect solar for a day or two)?
Thanks
...main source of all power in the van instead of the traditional leisure battery setup.
I was initially thinking of buying the portable solarpanels that come with Ecoflow system, as the thought of drilling holes in the roof of the van gives me nightmares, however the more I think about it...
...it use an Anderson plug and bypassed the built in controller. I have no need for it with my current setup so looking to sell it. The solarpanel is fully working however there are some points to note:
All the cables have been unattached so would need putting back in and require some new mc4...
100w NDS Lightsolar panel. Brand new unfitted panel box has only been opened to take the pictures.
These are a really high quality panel and thanks to the rear (underside) cable only sit less than 1cm above your roofline.
Current retail price is £280 - Save yourself £100 and buy mine for £180...
I'm after some advise guys, i have a SkyLow roof fitted and the interior is all carpet lined. I'm about to fit solar so need to run the cables. Anyone done this on a lined van before? and any idea on the best route for them?
I've fitted solar to van with an SCA roof so know the usual routes but...
you need to get a solar controller.
plug your solarpanel into that,
then wire the solar controller to the leisure battery via a fused link.

the victron 75/15 is very popular for up to 200W panels.

Looking into putting a pair of flexible solarpanels on the pop top. What do folk recommend in terms of connectivity - do you hard wire through the pop top or run a fly lead through the rubber seal of the rear doors?
So, got Solarpanels install as part of our conversion, now completed and the panels are wired to the MPPT through to battery setup etc, feeding Leisure Battery and through some other wizardry it also tops up the Van main battery etc.
I have just got myself one of those Power Generators/Solar...
