I've got a 2x rigid "Victron 175W Monocrystalline solarpanel" and I'm researching the best way to install onto my T6.1 West Dubs pop top (has ridges).
Anyone got any suggestions? or photos of examples? I am assuming I may only put one on the van.
Thanks in advance.
And just to think this all started from a crappy 20w 12v solarpanel. Shown in my first solar Vid.
Then over my camping 12v solar adventure to keep the beer fridge running.... Slowly increasing in size and capacity.
To my first venture into grid tied kit..... That EcoFlow 800w kit.
And now we...
What size solarpanels?
Got a few picks?
Example,
100w 6A
200w 12A
300w 18A
With a solar voltage of 18 - 36v
.
So I'd look for a relay that can switch 20A 36v.
This example can switch ,80A and 75v max.
So should be well suited for switching a panel on or off...

Has anyone fitted a flexible solarpanel to the bonnet?
I’m planning on getting a solarpanel bonded to the pop top when the roof gets installed later this the year. In the meantime I’d be happy to fit a flexible solarpanel on the bonnet which would would be kept after the roof is fitted.
All...

@Dellmassive thank you. I’ve now looked at the lensun, which seems to have everything ready to go. Few questions:
1. When packing the solarpanel away, is it safe to leave everything plugged to the battery and controller, but just unplug the solarpanel? And;
2. Can you just hardwire this to...
Got around to fitting 2 Renogy semi flex 100W panels on Saturday along with a nice Victron MPPT controller. I know there’s different theories around regarding the best way to install the panels but it makes a lot of sense to me to use vinyl on the paintwork first and allow air and water have...
I have designed what I think to be an excellent solarpanel mounting method that I first fitted to an old T5.1 I had a few years ago (see attached picture)...
I have since improved the idea and made it more polished by neatly integrating it with Dakine roof pads which makes the whole set up...
Hi,
Going to the F1 in a few weeks, have no hookup so pretty sure leisure battery won't last - we're there from Thurs - Mon. Main concern is of course fridge for Beer (oh and food I guess) will run out of juice - especially if it's a nice warm weekend. Fridge is Waeco CRX50.
I've looked...
...use of diesel heater no other major load on LB. We have a choice to make and need some advice: do we install a 150w (say) flexible solarpanel on our pop-top to top up AGM or instead just beef up battery and upgrade to a 100 ah (say) Lifep04 ? Not much price diff between the two as I would be...
If memory serves correctly, that extra cabling is a feed to an Anderson connector that terminates under the bonnet. This works as an Auxiliary input for the Solar. Meaning I can have a suitcase style Solarpanel working in conjunction to/instead of the roof panel if needed
So, I leave my van parked for several weeks at a time when I go away to work. I am thinking of investing in a small solarpanel just to keep the batteries topped up. Can anyone suggest something suitable please??
I am about to have my electrics upgraded to a full Victron system to include a Roamer 230Ah leisure battery and a roof mounted solarpanel. I needed to overcome the problem of wanting to charge both the EcoFlow Delta 2 and the leisure battery from the same solarpanel.
Both systems, van and...
Lovely van that, if I was in the market I'd snap that up.
Might just be worth adding the battery capacity and solarpanel size. Always something I look for.
GLWTS.
I don’t have a Victron so not 100% sure why it would say there is a solarpanel voltage, which seems steady, if the solarpanel is disconnected by removing the fuse between the panel and controller.
Pulling the fuse should be the same as disconnecting the solarpanel input wiring.
You don’t have...
I expect it’s to go between the solarpanel wiring and the input to the solar controller to protect the wire between the controller and the solarpanel in the event of a fault where current could flow from the battery through the controller and out to the panel wiring and exceed its rated...
