Thanks for the replies. So do I need this for the Towbar? I have 3 connections to the main battery via 15a fuses….or can I just coil it up and insulate?
...insulate and carpet but have had conflicting advice around deadening; some saying it makes a massive difference, others saying that insulation, boarding where necessary and carpeting is all you need.
What's the consensus on the forum, does it make all the difference or not; and if it does...
While it’s not bad what’s the best way to clean all the dirt along the edges of the floor, need it spotless prior to insulation and ply please. I dont want to pressure wash it.
A new twin slider blank canvas arriving some time next week, wheels ordered, virtual cock pit to be arranged, sound deading, insulation and carpet lining all booked, then on to the fun stuff.
Was for a bit of everything, insulation from cold and condensation and to help stop rattles from battery, I get your point about the foil, I’ll hunt out a bit of rubber
Hi, sorry I know this is an old ish thread but very relevant to my current situation! I'm in the process of sound deadening, insulating and carpeting my T6. We are using a 'reputable' conversion specialist and they have advised me to keep the OEM spongy rubber floor in the rear. Just wondering...
Adding insulation & the Loc8 table to the side door can cause the door to sag under the additional weight. There’s adjustment on the door running gear, you might be able to dial it out.
Changed rear bumper and added the park sensors and harness.
Changed worn out DSG selector.
Added second layer of soundproofing/insulation.
Plus gave everything a good clean as I was there.
In 2019 I paid about 9k all in for a day van conversion. Carpet lined and insulated, Kombi seats and windows plus a few USB / 12v points. Plus Sportline Wheels and tyres.
Rough breakdown
Seats, seatbelts and brackets. £1k for parts
Wheels and tyres, About £1k
Insulated and lined plus...
Here is a couple of photos with the awning attached and the van 'put to bed'!
Forgot to add, the ladder to get up to the pop top and the insulated window cover for nighttime are also included in the sale
Just finished sound deadning and insulation fingers cut to pieces electrics next carpet then full width bed no kitchen. Time and money. How about yours ?
...other options are there? Can you get alcantara to fit the contours of the rear panels of the van?
Think it looks great when on headlining and seats so why not do the van instead of carpet? Anyone done this?
To note: I am dodomat then 10mm closed cell insulation and 50mm fleece beforehand.
Cheers
Use a multimeter and check the insulation of the circuits when disconnected. No point in using a Megger as too easy to damage equipment and it’s only a 12v circuit.
No battery required for these tests.
I'm sure others will provide a more comprehensive answer, but as a starter for 10 I'd tap on the panels from the outside which would give an indication as to whether acoustic insulation has been added. Thermal insulation is possibly harder to identify without removal of a panel.
