Personally I’d use the multilayer foil type insulation.

Looking at that earth wire, it looks heavily corroded. I would be cutting the wire closer to the lamp and stitching a wire between the cut wire and the good side of the multi plug and see if it works. If so, insulate it and pop it back in

It certainly would be better insulated than most with that method. However I wouldn’t want to be without my heater even in a well wrapped van.

Hi Thom, I used a wire stripping tool to gently split the insulation, had to be very gentle as the wires are so thin, tested using the exposed wire and then covered up with electrical tape

How did this go? We are doing something similar and wondering whether we should cut squares of the harrison trim gold matting to go between the batons, or just put it under or over the batons in one piece?

Had our 2kW Planar/Autoterm on last evening and it was effectively warming the van and the driveaway awning - fully insulated van and with the door shut you can’t have it on full for long unless you want a sauna!

You certainly don't need to 100% cover every panel with the deadening stuff. All you need is enough to stop / dampen the reverberations. Insulation will need better/ complete coverage Watch these videos from Greg Virgoe.

Because that won't work, the bolt needs to be insulated otherwise it just bypasses the fuse?

I used both, Diall for internal insulation (on top of sound deadening and thermoliner), and the Thermowrap for a DIY pop top cover. I wouldn't use the Thermowrap inside.
