    Leisure Battery Limitations

Short answer is no you can’t. Long answer is, if you want to invest in a lot of lithium battery capacity & a large pure sine wave inverter and all the associated wiring & gubbins, then yes it can be done. Is it worth it, probably not. It’s a campervan, this is camping. Embrace it.

Which drawer fridge for under the bed?

I have a top opening Waeco fridge cf35. It's economical on battery usage - I'd say better than most other fridges. The compressor is good quality too - it's a Danfoss model. I have used it in my VW ID3 as there's a 12 socket in the boot. Also I have used it in hire vans. Does the job fine. Works...

Camper conversion electrics system- does this look right?

We have a LWB conversion. Even with just 2 of us & minimal kit, space is at a premium. The only mains electrical gear we carry is a low wattage kettle/2kw fan heater/700w oil filled radiator & an electric blanket. The last 3 items, we only take in winter when we don’t take the BBQ. We’re...

    Off Grid help.

It was never planned but yesterday we purchased an Opus Trailer camper. Never thought I would own a trailer but it's fantastic build and ideal for our family needs. It comes with a hook up and leisure battery setup, but I need to adapt this quickly as we camp off grid without hook up the...

Please help me - how to use camper plug sockets?

Thank you very much. I appreciate the time taken to write to me, this was really helpful. Would it be unreasonable for me to ask the company I purchased from to upgrade the DS300 as per your comment?

How did you get your cables from under seat to rear of van

Hi. It’s going from battery to inverter at rear arch and I wished to have future options for lithium and to reduce the voltage drop as much as possible. I also used 25 mm from battery to battry and required bits in between and also used 25mm from battery to 12v fuse block. Managed to get it all...

    Moving to Lithium

What follows is my opinion. Firstly, as already mentioned, you need to do a power budget for your van. Mine looks like this (Standard VW California Ocean)... So I know I need a solar system that will provide 0,7kWh a day reliably, estimate on yield for a solar system based on your...

Camper conversion electrics system- does this look right?

Hi @DentedT6.1 , you have exactly the same base van as us, 2020 T6.1 T28. For the luxuries you so desire, as we do, have you considered the possibility of a modest solar set up? Ideally you would need a lithium set up, but there are products out there which seem to be getting cheaper all the...

Should I ditch the Sargent? Please help

I’m wanting to upgrade my power set up in my camper. I’m wanting to be able to run for at least a week off grid. Off grid I would run my fridge, and tv for a couple hours at night. The water pump occasionally and the diesel heater very occasionally. I’m in the process of buying a 2000w inverter...

Solar PWM & MPPT Controllers - How I Done It -

Glad the guides are informative for you....yep now is a good time to buy. Pre start of season and after Xmas and new year prices tend to drop. I've got the Vic Smart solar 15,20,30A units... They are all very capable.... And my preferred choice. I was running T6F summer camp with two lots of...

Electrics Upgrade - Am I nearly there?

Hi all, So my AGM leisure battery died last week, but it was 8 years old so it had a good life. I'm going to replace it with a lithium battery and so begins another upgrade project on the van. My current setup comprises of CTEK D250A DC-DC charger, Victron 75/15 MTTP, 130w solar panel and a...

    Renogy inverter to battery cables

Nice set up here putting it under the seats. Good to take full advantage of space under passenger bench seat as well. I reckon I'll be going for the same sort of set up in my T6. I just have a few questions: 1/ Fuse box for circuits from leisure battery Are you putting all fuses under the...

    LifePO4 upgrade plus inverter

Thanks for taking time out to respond I tend to use my van for two separate roles:- 1 - General camping where the current battery/solar set up has been fine in all but a few occasions but obviously the extra capacity of either the 100 or 200 Lithium would be a bonus 2 - Mountain biking for a...

    Kombi dayvan inspiration

Ola @tammo I am at our static caravan at the moment and I won’t be back home where our van is until August 14th and I’ve only 2 pictures on my IPad which may help you. I built the box between the rear seats and the sliding tray with cut outs so that there was access to the seat folding...

Camper conversion electrics system- does this look right?

Hi all, Firstly- good points on the lithium vs AGM, we'll do some thinking- it seems it's coming down to a choice of upgrade the battery and put in a 1000W inverter (if anyone knows what dimensions battery can fit under the drivers seat?) or stick with the AGM battery and put in a 300W...

    Off Grid

As above.... You can do it.. but it's a costly excercise in parts and power. You will need a 1500w + inverter and 100ah + lithium battery. Plus a decent dc-DC converter to recharge...... then the cable and fuse set to run it all. Gas is most efficient for heating water. But if you have the...

Simple electrics set up (Renogy based)

Hi, thank you so much for the answer. Guess we should consider self-heating battery and now looking at this Renogy item. Although it has only one review on EU site and not the best one. Too bad we can't fit self-heating + BT version under the seat as the price is much better. About inverter and...
