L/Battery - go large or go lithium?

Was that a pre-made kit for something? The thin cables will be ok for the AMT once you have crimped the spade connectors that come with the AMT. The 2 black cables will be ok for the Orion negatives but likely too long and much heavier duty than needed for a short run with an 18A charger...

    Solar Panel no controller

Something like this in red and black for the ATM to DC-DC: 3mm2 PVC Cable And 2 of these at an appropriate length for the Orion neg to chassis (you’ll cut one end off to go in the Orion): 10mm2 battery leads Keep the AMT close to the Orion to minimise cable length. If you want to have the...

    Solar panel starter battery charger

Second the AMT-12 if you already have solar fitted on the leisure side. For direct maintenance I believe 50mA is the threshold for a fault code for the van's ECUs drawing too much current when fully asleep, so using that as a worst case that's potentially 1.2Ah (24 x 0.05) of capacity from the...

Battery Monitoring -- How I Done It --

hi Spuds ,do agree with you but i am a lover of minimalistic approach to camping and seem to be fighting the system VW have used just to keep the lights on , on this forum keep seeing people complaining on running flat the starter after just gong in and out of the van on a parkup . as you say...

I wish to keep the slider open without flattening battery

Fitting an AMT 12-2 isn't too far into the complex electronics - if you can find your DC-DC charger (I assume CamperKings have them and not some split charge relay...) then that will generally have access to all the wiring you need to get to. Some pics and plenty of folks will likely advise...

I wish to keep the slider open without flattening battery

Paul I'll go down the AMT 12-2 root As advised. I'll have a look around see if electric expert can install one for me. I wish you lived in my area i would just blow myself up. Sorry if i came over as dumb I have 50+years Engineering background in oil and gas industry but these fancy...

L/Battery - go large or go lithium?

...The big fuses in my plan I presume are redundant as I am going to reuse the in situ wire and simply reduce fuses down to 50. The thin gauge wire and all small bits I presume are for the Amt 12-2. So my question is….what is the two thick red wires and one thing black wire with ring terminals...

    What Have You Bought Today?

Yes, the Ablemail seems a very well regarded product on the forum, which makes me question why my converter is trying to push me down the route of a Balmar Digital Duo Charge. The Balmar is almost x3 the cost (...perhaps I've just answered my own question!)

Reversing Camera - wiring harness route

Rather than split charge only on the Solar consider using the Ablemail AMT 12-2 if you can, then your starter will trickle charge whatever the source of charge for your leisure...

    Help with Adding 230v Hookup

Literally what I was about to mention. If you did want to trickle charge the starter battery, you might want to look at an Ablemail AMT12-2. That'll have the benefit of constantly topping up the SB rather than just when you're on EHU.

    Keeping starter battery topped up

^^^^^ This  A 95ah Exide AGM will fit the battery compartment. Add a BM2 monitor & an AMT 12 maintainer. Job done.

L/Battery - go large or go lithium?

Oh, I think the red wires are for use with the fuses, got that. (So redundant in my (your) plan). But the extra black?

Newly converted van going flat, advice please...

...phone or device to rule out Bluetooth issues? I had the same starter battery anxiety until I wired in (very simple process) an Ablemail AMT 12-2 battery trickle charger/maintainer. It may well be that your starter battery is goosed, as indeed mine was, so a new Bosch starter battery was...

    T6.1 OEM Towing Socket behaviour

Possibly, but I‘d like to utilise the CTEK for the time being to maintain the starter battery until I can get round to installing a 200w solar panel and a Renogy DC-DC + MPPT charge controller. I’ll probably use a piggy back fuse connector under the seat with a CTEK direct connector adapter and...

    Moving to Lithium

Looks a good solution, there’s also the Ablemail AMT-12 to consider. I have one fitted. Does what it says on the tin. https://www.t6forum.com/search/1198941/?q=AMT+12&o=relevance

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

...a new 16mm2 cable from starter battery to the rear wardrobe. Plan tomorrow is to fit a new Fogstar lithium battery, Victron DC-DC, Ablemail AMT 12-2 and busbars, fuses, isolator etc. I’m going to keep the CBE DS300 as a fuse board for now, bypassing its split charger, and also keep the CBE...

Lithium LifePo4 12v Batteries - Time For An Upgrade?

Low temp cut off is a must, and your covered there which is good. For the heater - where's the van stored when you're not driving it, and it's it in regular use or is it just for summertime and trips away? The heater might come in useful if it's stored during winter, as with an AMT-12 and a...
