Sorry about the (non) English of my last post. Posted without reading it!
Do you have some sort of shunt for your BM2? How does it know what flows in and out of it?
Nice one, thank you. The van is a daily driver so the only time it doesn't get driven is the weekends basically. Should have said, the panel is one of the suitcase ones so it's not permanently connected.
I like the idea of having all the data in one app and, as I said, I do trust the Victron...
Looks like a nice setup.
So what I would do.. would be to add in a Abelmail AMT12-2.
I've got one on both vans now and it works perfectly..... (I've also got the 230ah lithium, and 50A DC-DC etc etc on both vans.)
I've also added in the Abelmail Bluetooth adapter to twerk the AMT settings...
I'd agree with the comments so far.
With charge rate I'd keep the Orion XS around 30A for general use, it's kinder on the battery, charger and keeps the heat down. You can always bump it up to the full 50A for a the week or two you're off grid and really drawing on the battery.
With the...
Installed a AMT12-2 Trickle Charger between the Starter Battery and Leisure Battery.
Re- instated my newly sprayed (Gloss Black) overhead lighting unit.
Good suggestion with the AMT12-2 @Dellmassive - Easily installed this tiny little thing today, (Hid it under the drivers seat with my Renogy 170Ah Lifepo4 and Victron 12-12/30 DC-DC charger.)
Waiting on the BM2 to come tomorrow, but once I managed to set the thing up for Smart...

Points in turn:
Don’t worry about the SB for now if AMT is keeping it going.
DC-DC output cable should be fused at LB end. Doesn’t need a fuse at Orion end. See the Victron instructions for a diagram.
Thicker positive cable to rear will always be better voltage drop wise. Seem to...
My relationship with the Ablemail AMT-12 was off to a rocky start as it would only charge with my starter battery when the lithium leisure bank was above 13.5V and the starter under 12.4V. This is well discussed by @Dellmassive on the following topic - BM2 update
(To be fair this was detailed...
sweet . .
you know we all like pictures . . .
so when you get a chance, post some.
of the AMT12-2 and BM2 etc etc ...
also do a few pics of your seat base build over here:

...electrics like a ferret and will write a comprehensive report.
Main things as I understand.
-Starter battery shagged (I knew this, as AMT12-2 has been propping up).
-increased size of positive cable to dc to dc (I used the original installed one with an inline midi fuse when I put lifepo...
I've ordered one and am keeping fingers crossed that it will be a simple fit. (Fairly serious lack of space under the drivers seat where i will need to install it to save running cables!)
@Dellmassive & @BoroBoy - Did you put anything more sophisticated than a BM2 for monitoring the 100%...
Hi @Ablemail camper power - I’ve got a slight issue with regards to connecting the AMT-12-2 at the location I intend to install it (see earlier post).
My issue is that I have rather ‘brutish’ 16mm2 sized cable going to into the Victron DC-DC charger and I haven’t left very much slack on the run...
Hmmm. I might call in to Ablemail and have a chat with them, as I only live a couple of miles away. I could get him to check my install and setup and then I could give some feedback on here. Why didn't I think of that when I was not working last week.
Hi just ordered from ablemail amt12-12 trickle charger (not arrived yet) to keep vehicle battery sweet if solar panel fitted
Hoping to put that under drivers seat with everything else
Lead acid batteries are optimised for broadly two uses; either for providing very high current for a brief period (starter) or low current for a long period of time (leisure).
Any battery isn't like a fuel tank, you can never fill a battery back up to where it was as it's a chemical reaction...
