What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Yeah, it’s a t28 with full camper set up. I briefly looked into what I’d need to do to sort, I think the advice given in the end was to drop the front to balance it out. I think, but life stuff distracted me away

    Mystery towbar cable

Thanks for the link. It appears to be factory wiring and I've ripped out all the RAC stuff. Great @jayc001 - I wasn't sure if it needed a permanent feed, so I'll just re-attach it to my aux battery.

Speed limited ex-RAC Van (it's not the ECU!)

Hi Salty Spuds, I also have an ex-RAC T6 which is Speed limited. I've had it for about a year and a half but and I'd love to remove it (if possible). I'm down in St.Neots near Cambridge but would appreciate any help or advice you could give me to remove it. Cheers Cam

Just about to join Team Ex-RAC

...my new most visited site! I had a T4 which I converted in 2004 but I had to sell in 2007 - I have wanted another VW camper ever since. I have put down the deposit on a t6 ex RAC van and hope to collect it in about 10 days. I am looking forward to removing the racking and starting the...

    Hi from Essex

It’s the classic ex rac! Need to get it on decent coilovers asap then basically everything is done, apart from headlight / tail light upgrades .

This is great thanks! Any updates? I'm about to look at a EX rac van this saturday

No continuity between main battery +ve and OEM split charge relay. Could it be this cable?

Got an ex RAC van with all their cabling cut out. All the split charge wiring seems to be in place fine, with working fuses and relay (continuity all checked with engine on and off). Looked at the main battery and saw this cable wasn’t attached to anything though. Failing this I’ll assume it’s...

Speed limited ex-RAC Van (it's not the ECU!)

I used VCDS, it’s an adaptation in the engine module.

    Welcome new members

Hello! We posted elsewhere but thought we'd say hi here too. We picked up an ex RAC T6 a couple of weeks ago. The forum has been really useful already. We've been getting our heads around things and after removing the racking, floor, jack mount, stuck on stripes etc. and a good clean, have now...

New orange van… what have I done

Love the colour. Whereabouts do all these ex-RAC and AA vans get sold?

    Stuck Hex Bolt

Does anyone know what these two bolts are for by the tailgate of ex RAC T6? They are hefty and have a metal plate. I’ve removed one and the other is stuck fast.

How.... how do you afford a van?

And if you can, try to buy an ex-AA and RAC van at an auction and at as low a price as possible. They seem to get bought up and prices inflated quite a bit. For example a local car dealer is selling ex-RAC vans for £21,000 which is ludicrous for what is a startline spec, with A/C and 150 6-speed.

New orange van… what have I done

You are not alone! You won't lose it in a carpark :think smile bounce: Plenty of ex-RAC vans on here: https://www.t6forum.com/threads/team-bright-orange.5205/ https://www.t6forum.com/threads/first-time-builder-orange-camper-ex-rac-conversion.36328/ Ex-AA vans will also have similar issues...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

You've got a bit of a saggy bottom - so they'll be tight. If you find you're too close to the wheel arch - going over bumps and rubbing, just throw some uprated springs in there. I'm not familiar with posh vans. Mine's ex-RAC, so it's been a lot of work, but it's a T32, so no worries about...

First time builder- Orange Camper (ex RAC conversion)

I have just started to convert an ex RAC van and the switches will go back ok into their original places (loom is long enough). The RAC fit kit is very well made and it does take time to carefully remove all their ancillaries. Can anyone assist me with how to remove the road speed limiter? mine...

T6 SWB Kitchen to fit with 130 rib bed

We have a SWB ex RAC van and wanted to put a set of 130 rib seat so we can have a 6 seater van and a bigger bed. We love the look of the Revolution Noah units however they seem to have stopped trading. Can anyone suggest a manufacturer that produce something similar. We want to have a fridge...

    Towing electrics ex RAC

It’s under one of the seats, I can’t quite remember which one. I think it’s under the double seat. There is a relay that’s Vw Factory installed and not RAC. After you remove all the RAC wiring it’s left as too are some other bits. If you add a swivel to the double seat these parts go under the...
