@BoroBoy Thule make the OEM Vw rack. Looking at the pictures @Garyf123 has posted they are the same ally bits - looks / dimension wise. The only bits missing are the 2nd & 4th bike carriers, but you can see where these would fit. If it helps - look at my OEM Vw 1 this weekend @ BM to compare...

Hi, did you ever find out if the Thule 900 backup box is compatible with the Thule wander way bike rack? I'm thinking of having the same combination. I found this video where this guy has the storage box fitted nicely to a Thule 973 Backpac Bike Rack.

I have the Altera Strada DL3 - a three bike rack that tilts far enough to clear the tailgate. However, I only every load 2 bikes and have to leave the nearest slot free for the tailgate to clear (and even then, the tailgate gets unnervingly close).

Thanks ginkster. We have 2 folding e-bikes weighing 17.5 kgs each (probably a little more with the bags on.) The handlebars fold down so that might take any risk out of hitting the roof. Closing the tail gate is an issue and no rack?
