If we did things more piecemeal, like adding solar, batteries or a diesel heater later, how much of that has to be planned in advance (i.e. leaving the right gaps or installing wiring in preparation).
We'd 100% have a professional company do this!
if you plan on going for Ablemail AMT12-2 then it sits alongside the DC-DC charger.
it relies on the fact that the Leisure/AUX battery is being charged by either Solar or EHU and will effectively "back-charge" the Starter battery - so if you have some Solar or EHU it will work fine . .
the...
see here about chargers. . .
Tip: as you say get a smart charger, plug into the 240v when on hook up, then connect to starter battery via clips, quick disconnect, obd2 port, 12v dash socket etc

Did the converter not explain the system at all?
There's an air of "cheapest possible parts that will get the job done" about the install, I have to say.
Like a (albeit, Victron) non Bluetooth PWM solar controller that costs £25 Vs a Bluetooth MPPT 75/15 for £55.
Battery is I think a Leoch...

Looks tidy. You can get boots with really neat and low profile nuts for inside the roof. I’ll look to see if I can find them again.
Have you considered a layer of PPF on the roof and attach to that? Makes it easier to remove the feet if you ever need to change panel and leaves no damage.
Edit...

I've read through a lot of Dellmassive's threads on "how he didit", and will readily admit a lot of the technical stuff goes way over my head, and a grey mist descends over my eyes. It's not helped when I have the sort of memory usually known to goldfish.
Having said that, the more I can...
@Nigel W can you share how you take the feed from the solar suitcase into the vehicle please? To date I have been feeding my cables manually through the window with wind deflectors to prevent any water getting in if it rains. Interested to see how you didit.
this looks like the EHU feeds the CU and then just the "Sockets" . .
so . . .
maybe the Maypole charger is connected to one of the sockets?
are there any hidden in cupboards?
if not maybe the Maypole book is a red herring and you havernt got one...
Thank you very much. I appreciate the time taken to write to me, this was really helpful.
Would it be unreasonable for me to ask the company I purchased from to upgrade the DS300 as per your comment?
Howdid you get on with this one? I've built and used three campervans without leisure batteries. I've never used an electric hook-up and never had a flat battery. The last two had 12v/gas/230v fridges, gas water heater, gas air heater, water pump. Only the last one had LED lights. I'm now...
Thanks! I was actually wondering howimportant it is to have BT module on the battery itself. I don't have any experience yet so don't know howi can use the info it provides. Some youtubers suggested it's better to get BT module on DCDC and screen monitor for the battery. Did you mean DCDC+BT-2...
Something is odd there! What does the control panel above the USB socket say about the state of charge of the 2 batteries? This needs to be done with all loads turned off and nothing being charged otherwise the reading is useless. The reading on those is not great anyhow, but it’s better than...
the van will take about 10x drive cycles to re register the battery power, ( after being flat)
so keep driving.
did you connect the charger direct across the battery? ( battery NEG post) - if so the van hasn't registered the charger so will be attempting to charge the battery -...
200W Renogy solar kit V2

this kit comes with crock clips to connect to any battery and get it charged up...
yes,
looking back to the original sketch here : Dellmassive`s Camper Van Adventure
ill have a quick disconnect on the starter battery , and the leisure battery.
so ill be able to connect to either just by plugging it in.
i have a few Victron IP22 & IP65 chargers that i can use,
but...
