    Solar panel/PWM controller failed?

the back end of the panel should not have been sealed . . it should be left open for water to drain out and stop that issue. also air gap is need for expansion and draining . . (back end.) front and sides can be sealed to stop lifting from motorway driving etc. back - open. also look at...

Adding solar to existing set up?

Fascinating data! So roughly 50 cycles a year, 20 years to earn its keep! I have to factor in to that calculation the fabulous time the van has given us so far and how much money we haven't spent on sunny foreign holidays! Best thing we have ever bought! As they say on eBay A1+++++ Recommended...

Any idea how my camper electrics work?

I posted earlier with some basic naive charging questions but although, other members were kind to me, I am still confused! Basically, I have a converted T6 camper with a PMS 3H management thingy, a solar panel - 60w and a 110ah leisure battery. I stupidly thought this was all I needed for a...

    Pop Top Wrapped!

A couple of questions for you @Jollyvan: What finish did your Hilo have prior to the wrap - was it a high-gloss finish that needed constantly polishing? And, how long did you have it wrapped before you noticed any lifting? TIA

    Green and clueless

I’d seriously look at a LWB. The extra space is very useable. Ours is my daily driver and there’s no problems. I go to supermarkets and park on the road in towns etc. We’ve had ours for nearly three years. Bought a decent spec highline panel van then did most of it ourselves over 6 months. I’d...

    Renology 175 w solar enough ?

Currently camped in the wild of North Uist, it’s amazing as ever here, surfing and chilling totally off grid. Parked up on Monday and have not started the engine at all. Fridge, lights, charging multiple phones. Heater for maybe an hour in the evening. It’s now late on Wednesday and my leisure...

    Solar panel/PWM controller failed?

Exactly @Dellmassive. Air gaps are needed to prevent a pocket of air which could expand and damage the solar cells. We leave gap at front and rear to allow for this and also the water can run out at font and rear. Fully sealed will lead to problems. Rgds Ian

Fitting heat pads to LIFEPO4 battery

I wouldn't bother. The roamer has charge blocking below 0degc built in. The batteries with heat pads normally are powered from an incoming charge power, so they don't self consume power. And if you was to use heat pads smallest wattage is best.....or you might end up as @RoamerBatteries says...

Idiot guide to battery monitoring required!

Bit worried about 2 results above though. Could it be that I had just connected the monitor and did the test Straight away? Does it need some time to build a history? That’s what I am hoping anyway cos don’t want to be replacing alternator or battery. Wasn’t aware of any issues with either.

Leisure Battery - accidentally drained, what next?

Hi all - need some advice please. We have an Autohaus Ashton T6.1 camper conversion, 2022. Having not used the Webasto diesel heater for months, I did a quick test of it a couple of weeks ago. It worked fine. I turned on the main control panel before testing the heater as I assumed the leisure...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

@RunDSG And how did you get it through the canvas? Did you make a hole? When thinking about this before I through I could feed the cable through the window at the front when we want it on but that seems a little too heath Robinson! But I don’t really fancy making a hole in the canvas. My solar...
