In a nutshell, they won't rub and the speedo won't under read!
You can certainly get away with 245/65 but they may rub, especially if lowered (that's a another subject...).
Depending on wheel spec you could probably make a 235 rub to be fair but most transporter specific wheels seem to be...
What do i need to do to the carrier etc to get a 245/65/17 underneath ? We used to run 235/65/17 and with a bit of lube and brute force we could get that in, but never ever tried the larger wheel. Can someone post a link or details of whats needed ? Thank you !
Can confirm this - although my passenger side with 245/65 tyres has a few mm clearance - drivers side was rubbing a tiny amount initially but now I've got a few k on the tyres they're clear.
your right. I went from 235/55's to 65's with a lumpyier tread pattern all on 17's. I have a 'normal' 235/65 as a spare and it is smaller (so it fits in the spare space, with a mod on the bracket). Speedo is showing maybe 4~5% under reading. I did put an extra gauge on the dash for this but...
I have 17" 235/65 on GP Steels and they are more 'bouncy' and long legged, but really nice to drive in comparison to std alloys on 235/35 17's. Speedo is just out. I was going to swapi n the summer but never did. This year we have driven to Corfu and back and two other French trips (one in...
...set of tuff torque 17 inch x 8 steel wheels for my t6.1 .
I’m going to order some wild peaks to gon on them and it looks like the norm is 235/65/17.
I just saw they do them also in 225/65/17 as well, would these run ok with those wheels? I just thought they might run the speed more...
Hi I have been running them for 6 months now , with wildpeaks all weather types on 235/65/17 . When first fitted I thought they needed a sproget ring but they didn’t. Road noise is ok and grip in snow and flooding has been perfect
Wheels: Rogue Alloys LCX 17” Satin Black
Tyres: Falken Wildpeak 235/65 r17
Suspension: Standard (T32) suspension
Next step is to plan a trip to @CRS Performance hopefully for a bit of added comfort and handling
Are people using the wildpeak AT3WA?
I’ve been trying to buy the AT3W , but can’t find a supplier, only the AT3WA
Also the newer AT4W isn’t available yet it seems, I’m looking for the Wildpeaks that will perform the best in winter time, I don’t want to buy a set dedicated winter tyres
After 235...
...could go without this problem.
So from what you're saying if your speedo is showing 70, you are infact doing 73?
Also he interested to hear about this bracket mod as I am looking to switch to a 235/65/17 Falken AT setup, having a 4motion ideally want the spare to be the same size or within mm's
With a set of 17” Davenport’s could I fit a set of BFG 225/65/17’s without any lift/modification?
Would 235/65/17 or 245/65/17’s fit on the same rims and again without a lift/modification?
Hi after a bit of info going to change from 20s to 17 steels was going for 235/65/17 rubber on standard height suspension on a T32 van will i need spacers or not lots off info already about but conflicting
Many Thanks
Simon
...have the same error at all speeds. The extra distance travelled will increase as a percentage so the speedo error will change too.
That's unusual. I've read a lot of these 235/65/17 threads and the only time that I recall the speed being more than 1 mph out (at high speeds) was on a 16" chassis.
Standard size on my T32 were 16in (smaller brakes) but now running 17" Navis MAC ATs on Michelin CC SUV that are also 235/65/17 have worked great for the last 18 months. Van is lowered on ST-X coilovers as low as they can go without rubbing or interference.
