    Skyline Aurora Roof

Wow what an absolute nightmare, you’ve put me off getting a pop top fitted now. I also think you should name and shame the fitters…. So no one else makes the same mistake.

    water under cargo floor-mat?

I take it back, found where the leak is. It is the rear seat belt for the bench seat and right above it is a bolt where you screw the roof rail into. How do I seal it? Silicone then rescrew it? Also if I need to take the seat belt reel off, is there a certain torque it has to be tighten back upto?

    Roof Rail Leak Free Fixing.

I found that with the nyloc nut part way down the thread, when screwed into the roof, tightening on the nut gives plenty of torque.

Looking for a window/awning fitter NW England

As you're in the the true NW (England) and the finest county.......try Lakeland Transporters (not used him, but pricing is good and friends have), or Christian at SMC Campers. When I was looking at window replacement (leaky Sliders) the auto glass places were best - it's what they specialise in...

    water under cargo floor-mat?

Ok, it was a while back so bear with me. If it is one of the bolts on the roof, I think that when you take it out there is a rubber wash. I filled the screw hole with a good squeeze of Sika flex 221, coated the thread of the screw as well and the washer then screwed it back in. Don't over...

Are the factory crossbars no good? Ps I hope you sealed where the foorbars bolt to the roof. They are prone to leaking, as I have found out.

    Which Pop-Top?

Well after much deliberation I went with a Reimo easyfit for my LWB. Yes I guess a little 'boring' you may say as it's plainly obvious it's got a chunk of fibreglass bolted on the top. What that means though is no leaks, plenty of headroom, a quality, nicely finished product that will add...

    Roof Rail Leak Free Fixing.

Got some ebay roof rails and did not want to gorm silicone into and around the fixing holes. Instead I got some M6 threaded bar cut a little longer than the bolts supplied with the rails. I then used the rubber washers that came off the blanking bolts together with a washer and M6 nyloc nut...

T6 roof bar nut threaded (damaged)

Hi Dig, apologies I hadn’t realised you had a Caravelle. The simplest option for you will be to try and re-tap the thread. Taking the roof lining out is far more complex than in my Kombi. if all you’ve done is cross threaded it, re-tapping should sort it out. If you managed to strip the...

    water under cargo floor-mat?

Thanks for the reply, couldn't believe it! But at least I found it a d thanks for the tip;). It is just the screw that goes into the roof as I haven't got rails. Hopefully it will stay dry tomorrow. Sikaflex and silicone here I come. I'll keep you posted on how it goes:thumbsup:

Thule Roof Rack 751/753 Foot or VW roof prep rails

Have you just the two bars with roller fitted? I put some on mine and i suspect ww kayak cockpit will rub on roof. Till now i have been throwing boat in back of van, but soon having seats fitted so must use rack. Maybe moving one bar may solve issue. From your picture it looks like rocker and...

    Show Us Your Awning Setup.

I use one of these from Camper Essentials: VW T5 Bolt On Awning Rail - Camper Essentials It's a bolt-on rather than a screw-in fitment. There are already bolt holes in your roof and these bolt into the existing holes - I've had mine on since Mar 2017 and no leaks.

    Insulation Query

Not an answer, but I'm in the middle of doing mine and while I was sat in the van yesterday in the pouring rain, I spotted water leaking in through two of the rivnuts used to hold the sliding door rail on, and a couple of leaks that must be from the roof rail bolts up above, one above the...

    Hilo Roofs

So today I’ve collected my van form HiLo factory after they have corrected all the fitting issues. I’m pleased to say that it no longer leaks and there are no more rubs, clicks creaks or squeaks whilst driving. The canvas had not been sealed correctly by VanDoc in a number of places. The...

    Vango Drive Away Awning Attachment

You need something like this in the roof channel - VW T5 SWB bolt on awning rail camper Roof Bars or Pop Top inc Kador / Long Fig 8 | eBay or VW T5 & T6 Transporter C-Channel Awning Rail (make sure you seal the bolt holes up or you'll get a leak) Or a Reimo multi rail (my preferred choice) -...

    50 mpg. FINALLY CRACKED IT!!

Hi there, just looked up your post re roof rail installation (no silicone route) that I'm about to do - bloody genius! Will do the same - is there a rubber washer under the original VW blanking bolts? I then noticed your thread on economy also - VW data reckons we should be getting a combined...
