They love me too for some reason.
It won’t stop the biting but I find that the antihistamine cream from Boots really stops the itching. They also do a stronger one with hydrocortisone in it but I’ve never had to go that far.
Has anyone tried to fit the Jerba midge screens to their van while having the vanshades window pods in?
They look as though there should be enough room between the unit to get them in, and the angle to get the screen through the vanshades opening but not too sure.
Thanks
Ash
...See pictures. Between these patches its easy to get your hand to the outside world, and for those horrible biting bar steward crocodile teethed midges to come in and make a buffet of me.

...in the poptop to ventilate the van when we're cooking, and generally have the slider open as well of course. Depending on the weather. And the midges.
As regards the "how long to bond" question, we dropped ours off at 08:30 or thereabouts and it was ready for collection by 16:00. With lovely...
...six nights away in the week before Christmas.
I've often thought of visiting the west coast of Scotland, but been put off by tales of clouds of midges sucking the blood of English campers.
So, is December a perfect time to see Scotland in it's snow-capped beauty, free from the vampire...
We bought some magnets to hold the sides of the Midge Netting in place across the door. It works in the garage but not tested yet in any wind, although they seem to be capable. The tops are orange plastic so when the do fall off they shouldn’t damage anything and we should be able to find them...
Do you have your two lists?
1. Things to remember / buy / good ideas (storage boxes, midge candles, etc.)
2. Van stuff to do (clean windscreen / fix trim / check screen wash etc.)
I have a list on my phone and a reminder that pops up midweek otherwise I would forget it all :slow rofl:
6'7"leg. How tall are you then?
Ouch. Mozzies love me too. I got bitten to death in Tuscany one year. My legs looked liked Donner kebabs. I went to a pharmacist and asked if he had anything for them, showing my legs in shorts. In very good English he said with a laugh "Yeah, long trousers"...
...brought some curry, chilli and beef stews that I froze a few weeks ago with me. Last night I had the curry, tonight it will be a beef stew and some French bread but it'll have to be doors closed as this looks like midge city here.

That looks amazing there @Gavinsky23...Might be on our plan for next year. Looks quiet? And is there a midge issue there? Safe travels mate...keep the pics coming ;)
I’ve got a slimline one by Vanmax. Been on nearly a year and very pleased with it. No creaks, rattles or road noise. It takes a bit of effort to get the pop top to move the first few inches then it just virtually goes up on its own.
The bifold bed will push up with one hand. All seams pretty...
I have a couple of the Jerba side window midge screens and they work well - from memory they are £45 each but check their website. If you’re planning on travelling in Scotland be aware that a lot of mosquito netting mesh is not tight enough to prevent midges coming in.
I made some magnetic...
