Charger = on EHU.
Plug it into the mains; the voltage display should rise above 13-14v.
If you have a charger attached, then the manual says it should charge either Leisure or Vehicle (but not both at the same time).
Confirm this by switching fromLeisure to Vehicle while on EHU; if the...
It will be fine, its just losing power due to the draw from the fridge. Obviously it would be better if you could charge it via mains (EHU). You just dont want to run the leisurebattery flat as that can cause damage
I’m going to start buying the equipment I need to upgrade to a kick ass lithium set up that will provide a lot longer off grid camping.
Thanks to a lot of advice from @Dellmassive I've got a great idea of what to buy now. Also thanks to @Tall_Paul for solar panel advice.
So here is my proposed...
The red one to right of the arrow, on the same 8pin is connected to the LB with a 30a midi fuse on it too, but im not sure if it's related to the charger on EHU, because I'm not on it ATM to check sorry.
Will turn it on and check the voltage next time I'm plugged in though.
The answer is yes there is. But without knowing what you already have installed in the van it's impossible to give any meaningful advice. You may already have the facility, but it could be operator error. Or you maybe lacking a vital bit of kit. Either way, we need more info & pictures of...
no, unless you get a gizmo that will trickle charge the starter, from the leisurebattery.
or
you can use one charger to charge the starter battery, to the point that it turns on your dc-dc charger to charge the leisure setup - but you need a large charger and its a faily waistful way of doing...
It’s not unusual for a Birchover in my experience, particularly if you’ve got a soft close side door or open the doors/tailgate several times a day. I’m in the process of fitting a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger and an Ablemail AMT12-2 to finally resolve the low stater-battery issue when staying...
My Sargent EC155 isn't charging the Fogstar Lithium battery. I've checked the 15amp charger fuse on the Sargent and all the switches are up on the breaker. Read another post on here that says probably easier to install a direct charge solution as, the charger function of the Sargent is...
Looks pretty good!
I would fuse the feed fromEHU charger to pos bus bar on bus bar side, especially as it goes rear -> under seat. Remember electricity travels both ways so a wire fault could ground your main positive bus bar. Sure, you have a leisurebattery main fuse as an ultimate...
Hello,
Anyone able to provide an explanation for this?
Van was at the repair garage for 2 weeks and during this time the leisurebattery ran out - understandable as I had two trackers, WiFi router and a camera running and it was parked under trees so no solar!
When I picked up the van and...
Ok. So you have a couple of options. The simplest option is to buy a good quality mains battery charger, e.g a Victron Bluesmart IP22 15A (other battery chargers are available) and plug it into one of your mains sockets & connect it to the leisurebattery when you’re on EHU. The other option is...
Got a few pics?
The ctek maybe a DC-DC charger for engine charge?
The Sargent has a basic 12.8vdc PSU that's powered from the EHU. (They call it a charger, but it's just a basic PSU)
So well assume your rear led lights are fed from that Sargent.
And when the EHU power isnt available the...
Thanks for the insight. I will see what happens with health check and likely new batteryfrom dealer. I am considering solar so will likely ask for a battery maintainer at the same time as that has been mentioned by several people now so seems the way to go.
Hello,
Situation as is:
- VW T6.1 California 2020
- 2 solar panels connected with Victron MPPT
- victron DC/DC (ditched the 'smart' VW relay)
- Ablemail trickle charger for the starter battery
Considering to be situation:
- 2 x 100Ah Lifepo4 batteries
Concerns/Questions:
- Can I connect the...
I have a 4 month old Westfalia Club Joker with x 2 leisure batteries as per Westfalia spec ie 1 x 70Ah and the additional one at 100Ah.
When using habitation electrics, only the former shows any drop in voltage eg from 12.4v to 11.4v whilst the latter stays at 12.6v.
I expected that batteries...
Advantages to both. Multiple output charger is more compact but only works on EHU. The Ablemail will trickle charge the starter battery regardless of the source of charge on the leisurebattery.
If space is tight and you'll mostly be on EHU go for the multi output charger.
If you want to be...
the vw coolant is a pink colour.
any water leak needs urgent attention, overheating will knacker the head - so shouldn't ne driven.
have you got VW Assist? - call out the silver van guys? - they can get you looked in quick.
+++++++++
as for charging, yes the EHU only charges the LB,
you...
Currently I have it plugged it in via EHU using mains power from the house so fingers crossed it’s charging. I checked and everything is working as it should - fridge, lights etc - but I’ve turned them all off in the hope that the EHU power will be focused on recharging the leisurebattery. Time...
The EHU route will only work to maintain the starter battery if it is configured to do so, either with a dedicated mains charger or by some form of battery to battery charged (DC-DC capability or separate trickle charger)
If you want to get as much useful energy from your power bank into just...
