    Installing a Powerpart PDU

Yeh i have the same on my panel. I can see the voltage go up on the LB when the engine starts. but it doesnt rise when the engine is off and the 240v ehu is then plugged in and switched on, was wondering whether a clamp meter around one of the cables coming out the back of the pdu would...

Newbie T6 Owner (Electrical Help Please!)

Hello All, We have just recently purchased our first newly converted T6 Van and honestly we have no idea how any of it works :slow rofl: Would anyone be able to look at the below images of our setup and try and explain what we need to know about the whole electrical system I think that I...

    Newbie battery charger questions

    1) If the leisure battery is isolated from loads it shouldn't discharge significantly - if you left everything on (especially a fridge) then it will 2) yes dropping below 50% charge damages lead acid very quickly for starter batteries and quickly for leisure 3) plenty of advice via search...

    Westfalia Club Joker electrics

Are you sure the 70aH doesn't refer to the vehicle (starter) battery? It would make sense from your quoted voltages. EDIT: The Westfalia website currently says "Battery 95aH" which would confirm this. So, the real question is why your leisure battery is dropping to 11.4v, and why it...

    Keeping starter battery topped up

Hi everyone, Frank here from Norwich. I bought a lovely second-hand T6 (2017 plate) and was wondering how I could use my Jackery power station to keep the starter battery topped up? Sadly, my van has to live outside since we don't have a garage or other undercover parking opportunity. Last...

    Installing a Powerpart PDU

No on your version there isn't a dedicated fuse for the charger, that 25A fuse would disconnect the Leisure Battery entirely. Looks like for yours you turn off the 6A mains circuit breaker to turn off the internal power supply. If you already have a lithium capable maintenance charger then...

    Charge Confusion...

I'm not sure the dc160 charges both battery's when on EHU. I've got the vechicle dab with speakers around the back. A bit concerned it will drain the vechicle battery if not charging?

    Charging Ebikes off grid.

Check the listed output figures. 4A at 240v is 960W, which would give a charge rate greater than 1C for your 625Wh battery. 4W is probably the 110v rate - most chargers work on anything from 110v to 240v. The output figures will be a better guide - something like 8A at 40V. That would tell us...

    Bloody fickle vans!

I've got a spare ctek charger so just going to use that the next time i lay the van up! Didnt plan on leaving it parked up for so long but life happens. I've got RAC cover, did think about using it but also thought i could just keep topping it up on the drive home. Heading home tomorrow so maybe...

    Hillside Birchover

Rather unscientific, but I topped up the starter battery this morning. Before I started, I checked the leisure battery voltage, gauge showing 12.3v Plugged in the Noco Genius 5, voltage in both cab sockets went to 14.2v Left the charger running until it showed fully charged, cab sockets...

    Gas 'less' Route

I'm sure you are aware of the setup of some of the forum members, but some have a battery charger connected straight off the EHU to charge the vehicle battery. This then via a DC to DC charger tops up the leisure battery. If you add in a solar panel, there are three ways of charging up the...

    Battery Charger Help for Newbie!

Hi All, I’m hoping someone may be able to help. I’m currently driving through Spain with my family on our first major trip in our van. All has been going fine, we’ve stayed at a couple of campsites and connected the electric successfully. We discovered the box in the first image and found...

    Battery Ah size recommendations

It only flashes when the EHU cable is connected and power is being sent from the victron. I can't test the voltage, embarrassed to say I don't have a multi meter.... It's been on the list for about 10 years! From what I've read the signal needs to be 12v 50mA, so something to step the volts...

Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Sunset at Southport, no overnight camping allowed. Could have moved to a car park nearby but it was rammed.. but forgot to charge the leisure battery so no heating and without EHU Mrs was not ready for “roughing it” after only coming back from the Canary Islands earlier this week… still needs to...

campervan no longer being used as my daily driver

You should make sure that both batteries get a maintenance charge - ideally you have a decent multi stage charger on your EHU already for the leisure battery so just leave it hooked up - starter battery you can either fit something like the AMT-12 to trickle it from the maintained leisure...

    Basic no-leisure battery setup

Alternator charging under the factory set up is basically: 100a fused connection from the starter battery (e-box fuses) going to a split charge relay with an ignition signal wire under the passenger seat, then to an 80a fuse, then to the leisure battery positive terminal. Literally nothing more...

    Charging leisure battery

I have an EC155 but I’ve only used EHU 2 or 3 times in the last 6 years. As far as I’m aware it’s not a smart charger so isn’t great for avoiding battery damage. I just use my CTEK 250SA via B2B and 150w solar to charge my 2x45Ah AGMs, plenty for what I need even for months away from home.

Brilliant, I'll hook up the EHU at lunch time today and update you on whether it does both.

    Leisure Battery no longer charging

Hi guys, having a bit of an issue with my elec set up. Plugged into a EHU on Tuesday, van was happy with voltage display reading 13.8v on my Sargent EC160 panel. Went to move pitches (was offered a better pitch), plugged into that one and the control panel read 12.2v but the 3 pin plug socket...
