Help on charging my leisure battery from mains hook up?

not a stupid question. . a lot of people get caught out when camping - even when on EHU that charges the LB. everyone always forgets about the starter battery - or just assumes that the EHU charger will charge the starter battery - its doesnt (with most standard installs using say a Sargent...

T6.1 Mains Hook Up Not Charging Battery

Hi Folks, Many thanks to Dellmassive, Pauly, icb & Salty Spuds for all your comments. I'm still a little confused about the leisure battery being charged when connected to EHU. When I connect via EHU the Seattle Control panel only shows the Leisure battery when it should show the 'Plug' symbol...

    Basic no-leisure battery setup

What’s involved with this? And can it be bought as a kit? I’m coming from caravaning and what a super basic system. I have thought the portable battery pack is the way, but why I’m at carpeting point in the build I am thinking a basic EHU system is going to be worthwhile? Many thanks

    External 240v hook-up options?

This is my first post and I’ve just started to convert my t6 kombi, so far I’ve had it all insulated and sound proofed, vapored and carpeted. I have had an 100ah leisure battery with victron Bluetooth b2b installed under the drivers seat. And the next step is to have EHU installed. So my...

T6.1 Mains Hook Up Not Charging Battery

Yes it should. I’m presuming that none of the MCB, RCDs have tripped or there isn’t a blown fuse somewhere and all the 13a sockets in the van work.

    Upgrade DC DC

Note that you don't need the isolated version in a van as it's fine to use the body as a common ground, the isolated versions are for more marine environments (where currents in a metal hull will cause galvanic corrosion) or coach-built vans. The isolated will be fine with both grounds on the...

    CBE PC210 Power Management

I've found a copy of the manual here: https://www.rainbow-conversions.co.uk/cbe-motorhome-caravan/cbe-pc210-kit.html The section you seem to be talking about is this one and I agree the manual seems to suffer from being not very well translated from the (presumably) original Italian If this...

    Night-heater stopped working

The light in the top picture shows the alternator (via the starter battery) is charging the leisure battery. The voltage readout for the batteries is useless when the engine is running as they just show the voltage from the alternator. You need to turn everything off and leave for about an hour...

    Leisure Battery not needed?

There is certainly a strong argument for using something like an EcoFlow. If I was starting again, then I would probably do away with a leisure battery, but keep the EHU wiring, only with a dedicated hook up to either charge an EcoFlow when on EHU or power from it when off-grid.

Lithium LifePo4 12v Batteries - Time For An Upgrade?

As you use EHU then a 105ah is more than sufficient. The Roamer is a good price with great feedback of their support. I have the Fogstar and it’s been brill and £299 is an excellent price as it’s normally £369. Mine has been faultless so I’ve had no need to use their support but they were very...

    Cold weather leisure battery protection

Interesting setup. I've not seen those elc power supplies before. So looks.like: Check d250 dc-dc charger, With additional solar panel connected to it. EHU with twin 12v power supplies. EHU fuse box, 12v fuse box, A 240v mains inverter of some discription. That seems to have a power...

    Battery charging from cig socket

Thanks for all the excellent guides and threads on starter battery charging/maintenance. With this method of charging the starter via the cigarette socket, are there any precautions to take charging the starter from a socket in the van when on EHU (or just straight from the mains for that...

L/Battery - go large or go lithium?

I understand your thinking but I think you may be thinking too hard! :D LB isolator is primarily for totally isolating the LB for maintenance or the rare occasion you may want to turn the leisure system off completely. Solar panel isolator again is for maintenance and to prevent solar...

    Physical layout of electrical components

There is plenty of information on this forum in regards to how to do the wiring in our vans. I've learnt a lot and done a lot of reading on here. I have noticed that there are no diagrams showing a physical layout of components so figured I'd upload one to hopefully assist other. My set up has...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Charged it. Came back from Germany and the van has been sat with the voltage going through the floor. I have a 10w solar thing in the dash which seems to be enough during summer, but not now, so hooked up EHU and plugged in the CTEK MXS 5. I turned off the leisure battery charger, as you can...

LifePO4 battery not charged from alternator

The battery's a TNPower TN-LFP12100 bought from TravelVolts in 2019 You helped me 3 years ago with an issue I had with the shunt which has been fine ever since I carried out your suggestions. Leisure Battery Monitoring The battery has switched off a few times in the past but because I always...

    Hillside Birchover

I did some investigation with mine this morning (2023) and worked out what is going on. The 12V “engine run” signal (black wire) that feeds the VW split charge relay does not work quite as I expected it to. When you connect a charger to the starter battery, the increased voltage wakes up the van...

CRE50 fridge issues and potential Leisure Battery culprit - RESOLVED!

Right. I’ve been putting this off for a while but as it now affects my Dometic fridge and we’re looking to go on a trip to Europe this summer I need to tackle this. Been putting it off because electrics (and plumbing for that matter) are like the Dark Arts to me! So please bear with and excuse...
