...no pressure measurement is taken from the tyres
Direct TPMS - This uses a sensor inside each wheel to directly measure the current tyrepressure and temperature and displays these values inside the vehicle, a drop in pressure in any wheel/s will trigger an alert on the instrument cluster and...
If the reset doesn't last then it points to a problem, either with the tyre losing pressure due to a puncture or a leak in the banded wheel itself, or with the ABS sensor, or the wiring for that sensor, because yes, it's the ABS sensor that is used to inform you of a loss of pressure. I assume...
Only once after running a tyre off road a very reduced pressure I just jacked the vehicle and used a more powerful pump and POP it went back on. It may have gone on any way if I ran on a little and retried but it was food for thought what if I did not have the pump with extra womph or could...
Excellent point.
My van is fully converted so probably explains why 40psi feels much better.
It’s so noticeable I can tell when the tyres need topping up.
That’s not a factory size tyre. I would go with the factory pressure for the 255/45 or 235/50 and then have a play from there +/- 2psi to see what works for you and feels best. .
I have a Westfalia club joker high top camper based on the T32 Lwb Highline 150 dsg. It rides better than the T28 based VW Californias I have owned before despite the extra height. The factory fit 17in wheels and tyres are okay but I may well consider wider tyres at lower pressure when these are...
Afternoon all
While I love the look of the wheels, with the ever increasing number of potholes on the road these days to say the driving is a little harsh and bone rattling is an understatement.
I have spoken to Steve at CRS and he has provided me with a solution which I will purchase in the...
...there in the end. My gauge seems fairly accurate according to the tpms readouts on the display which I’m thinking is more accurate. I don’t think I go a week without the tyrepressures fluctuating and the tpms telling me I have a low pressure. It seems very sensitive to the weather temps...
...tough and easily absorb the nocks against hard stone and rock that lesser tyres might succumb. They are also tolerant of frequent low tyrepressures. In the wet season which over the last year or so, I have gone down to 6psi to prevent making deep tram lines in my neighbours fields top...
...versus one with say 3MM.
I'd expect abs and traction faults if it had an abs sensor fault. Assuming treads are reasonably equal and tyrepressures correct and you reset the system, then all should work.
Treads only need to be equalish on the same axle, so front could both have 2mm and rears...
Hi @Pauly the tyrepressure option is still on the mfd display. Haven’t had the van out since or tried to store the tyrepressures. Will try it when next out and report back.
Another tyrepressure question… Van is a T6 T32 Kombi, 2WD, 200hp with DSG.
OEM tyres are awful 215/60 R17C 104/102 (commercial tyres). VW recommended pressures are 57/48 psi F/R unladen and 58/58 psi laden. I can’t find a load/pressure chart for these commercial tyres but the narrow pressure...
