Should I ditch the Sargent? Please help

What rating is your current panel? You also need to consider EHU charging. You will need to disable the "charger" in the Sargent - it won't charge a LiFePo If you mostly do off grid and charge from driving or solar then that may not be an issue but otherwise you'll need to add an EHU charger...

Should I ditch the Sargent? Please help

Talked about a similar replacement/extension here recently: https://www.t6forum.com/threads/upgrade-from-sargent-ec155-advice-request.47560/ As @Deaky says if you are adding a 2000w inverter that will dominate your power use and dictate what system you fit, so you need to be clear what you expect.

    Victron IP22 Install Location

Cheers Lee - still in the planning and costing stage at the moment. I do know that: 1) I want to get rid of Sargent charger (I've been looking at the Fitting a battery charger with a Sargent EC155 thread with interest) 2) remove Durite split charge system and replace with DC to DC charger and...

    EC 155 and AGM batteries

I've got a 2016 T6 based Topaz. I've just replaced my old leisure battery with a 120Ah AGM but have seen on various threads and sites that the Sargent power unit won't deal with AGM batteries. The battery currently shows a healthy 12.8v which rises to 13.6v when hooked up through the EC155...

Should I ditch the Sargent? Please help

...heater very occasionally. I’m in the process of buying a 2000w inverter. It was formerly dellmassive’s I believe. I’m currently running a Sargent box and leisure battery on a split charge relay with a solar panel on the roof. See pics Advice I’ve had so far is to junk the Sargent upgrade the...

    Leisure battery......Again

Yep, a decent charger of some sort sounds beneficial. Question is whether you want a EHU charger, bypassing the Sargent, or add a DC-DC charger which would charge from alternator whenever vehicle is running. How does it currently charge from alternator, is it a split charge relay, a DC-DC or...

Flexi to framed solar panel and MTTP controller upgrade - help needed!

Thanks. I believe there is one already. I'm not sure the power is coming straight from the controller because there's a split charger and EHU in the mix also. Perhaps it's also fused at the Sargent PSU/panel above (I see a 20a fuse for the battery). Wish the second hand camper came with a schematic.

Fitting a battery charger with a Sargent EC155

I have the same setup (Sargent ec155) and and bought the Roamer seat base battery. I ordered the Victron charger and have wired it to the 240v output on the Sargent and then directly to the new battery. Reading online, I was advised just to leave the ec155 switch off (as that’s just the charger)...

    Charging leisure battery

I have an EC155 but I’ve only used EHU 2 or 3 times in the last 6 years. As far as I’m aware it’s not a smart charger so isn’t great for avoiding battery damage. I just use my CTEK 250SA via B2B and 150w solar to charge my 2x45Ah AGMs, plenty for what I need even for months away from home.

Sargent + Leisure Battery Charging Help

Yes that separate charger I fitted worked fine and put more charge in the auxiliary battery than ever the Sargent did. Don't forget to remove the 16amp fuse from the Sargent. I didn't mention on my last post but both the old and the new Sergent EC155 chargers went up in smoke when I connected...

    Leisure battery......Again

...there needed to be a signal cable from the ignition to kick the charge relay into use), also a B2B charger would have fixed the problem. The Sargent charger wasn't really a conditioning charger so it might be an idea to by-pass it with a proper charger. Also, if you still have the original...

Sargent + Leisure Battery Charging Help

Mine is the same, in the cupboard at the rear of the van, above the gas! Just checked it and it seems to be much cooler now, assuming it’s done with the charge for now. Still… a bit worrying all the same.

Recommendations for Leisure to Starter Trickle Charger
