On my Sargent ec160 I had a spare way on the 230 side of the unit so just ran some blue 2.5mm2 3 core flex from the wardrobe then behind the kitchen units to the drivers seat and a single 13A skt job done.
The 13A skt is above the Victron charger now as I've fitted a larger Renogy 2kw inverter...
...below freezing is dangerous and can cause them to burst.
This is a common thread around here so do some reading, this search is against Sargent but all the all in one systems need pretty much the same changes to move over to lithium...
I'm in the same situation of wanting to keep the Sargent ec160 unit for power distribution when on hook up at a campsite but when it comes to charging the new lithium leisure battery I can see a bit of faffing about splitting the Sargent charger output to the starter battery and replacing the...
Hi,
I have a fully converted van with a Sargent EC155 unit. I am wanting to leave that in place, but fit a new battery charger to cope with a new lithium battery.
Has anyone done this? If so, any advice would be appreciated.
Secondly, it looks like I will also have to replace my Sterling...
...something like a Victron mains charger to supply 12v power on EHU and charge the battery.
This is quite a common thread so have a search on "Sargent".
However it's important before planning that to be sure why your current battery is in trouble. A faulty charger or parasitic drain is quite...
I'm finally in the process of butchering the Sargent ec160 panel in my Redline camper conversion my thinking is to remove the 20A fuse (and block that) to the inbuilt charger circuit then loop out from one of the two spare 230V mcbs on the Sargent to take a feed to a Victron smart charger next...
I am currently going down a different path for my AGM LB. I have open up the Sargent and removed the 13.5v AC to DC unit. I have kept the Charger switch as an AC feed to my Victron charger, from which I feed the output back into the Sargent, connecting to the original internal13.5v spade...
Make sure the MCBs in the Sargent are turned on, realistically there's probably just the one 16A one being used for your campers mains skts.
On mine I used one of the other two spare MCBs in the Sargent to power a 13A skt by the drivers seat for a 30A smart charger for the leisure battery when...
This may be a bit late but I felt I still wanted to share my problem in the hope it might help others, my system is the Sargent ec50 control panel with a Sargent ec155 power supply unit, I’ve not been able to use mine for 12 months due to the control panel intermittently kept beeping and...
...option is to just do that and see if that's enough to support your needs.
If you get enough from the DC-DC charger you can just leave the Sargent charger off (pull it's fuse)
If you find that you spend a few days on EHU and don't do enough driving for the DC-DC to keep reasonable levels of...
Hi All
the VLM6 unit i bought from Sargent to rectify my tow bar electrics not detecting my led caravan didn't work so im still in the same position not being able to tow my caravan, can the factory fit tow bar electrics be re programmed to stop looking for electrical resistance?
Looking better. Personally I wired the AMT differently and just went direct to the Orion as per the instructions. Less cable and connections. You could certainly do that with the neg to save routing that to the chassis.
You don’t need the fused cable for the ip65 now as the one you have fitted...
I would not do what I did. I am pretty certain that the Sargent has over protection circuitry incompatible with the voltages/currents that occur in the AGM bulk charging phase. I got around this for the LB by throttling back the Victron to 7amps when on EHU. I have solar but did not wire that...
With EHU most people fit a smart charger.... say a Victron 15A for example for mains EHU connection.
This will run stand alone,
You may need to disable the the Sargent 12v charge circuit.
My vans 240v socket works when on EHU and the red button is off. I also have a seperate Victron Blue Smart Charger installed (not by my) which charges the leisure battery so don’t switch in the Sargent charger.
Hi all. I've got the Sargent ec155 electrical system. When on leisure battery, the socket doesn't work. It works when on hookup. My wife is planning to go on a writing retreat for her PhD so will need this and maybe without electric hookup for few days. Is this a fault with the electrical system?
