As far as I know an 84 is a detuned 102. 102's are quite commonly tuned to 140.you should be ok

My SWB has the 102 engine (no remap) and 5 speed box. Happily cruises at an indicated 80 and can get above that although it’s blooming loud with wind and road noise then. Doubt it goes past 90 though. To me it suggests the remap is limiting the top end somehow?

If it’s only done 30k then it’s possible that the remap is delivering too much torque for the basic clutch in the 5 speed. Unless it starts doing it regularly that would be my guess. It’s only friction and pressure so put enough power through it and it’ll give at some point.

Our 110 5 speed T6.1 drives and goes really well, I won’t consider a remap either.

That’s why I asked, as soon as you mentioned “Remap” alarm bells rang. As @DXX says, the 5 speed manual isn’t the best gearbox for a manual. Personally I wouldn’t buy it.

I had a t5.1 ,102 5 speed box and had it remapped and it destroyed flywheel and gearbox ,was remapped to 160 ,way to much torque through gearbox as they are weak .
