campervan no longer being used as my daily driver

You should make sure that both batteries get a maintenance charge - ideally you have a decent multi stage charger on your EHU already for the leisure battery so just leave it hooked up - starter battery you can either fit something like the AMT-12 to trickle it from the maintained leisure...

    BM2 update

I’ve never been too sure of the effectiveness of my Ablemail AMT 12-2 either. It has been back for repair once as it was not charging. The BM2 does occasionally show a 0.03v charging blip but it does not keep my starter at a constant voltage when I’m not using the van and allows the stater to...

Newbie Hillside Starter battery charging question

...works for you longer term in a bit. Some mount a quick connect under the bonnet to make hook up easy, others fit something like the Ablemail AMT 12-2 trickle charger as a more fit and forget (so long as you have your leisure battery maintained from EHU/Solar) If you do mount a quick connect...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

My Starter battery was replaced by the garage I bought the Van from but I discovered the muppets did not code the battery, so I did it. I like the concept of the AMC so will get one and see what happens. The Leisure Battery needs to earn its keep in the off season:)

    BM2 update

That’s more or less what mine shows. I assumed that by setting the AMT12 to “smart alternator” it didn’t fully charge the starter battery. This is mine just now

campervan no longer being used as my daily driver

Thanks for your reply, a run out to the supermarket is a good idea

No continuity between main battery +ve and OEM split charge relay. Could it be this cable?

    1. Personally, I would connect my solar to the LB side of the DC-DC & fit something like an Ablemail AMt-12 to keep the SB topped up. Plenty of folk use this method & it works well. Fitting the solar to the SB side might fool the DC-DC into thinking that the engine is running (Depending on...

    Leisure battery failed?

IIRC, when I had the Sterling unit, you had to be pretty smart to press both buttons at the same time, it took a couple of goes to press them both simultaneously.

Voltage falls about a volt on unlock

Sorry about the (non) English of my last post. Posted without reading it! Do you have some sort of shunt for your BM2? How does it know what flows in and out of it?

[Guide] Renogy IP67 50A DC-DC Charger + MPPT (for leisure battery) -- How We Done It --

Looks like a nice setup. So what I would do.. would be to add in a Abelmail AMT12-2. I've got one on both vans now and it works perfectly..... (I've also got the 230ah lithium, and 50A DC-DC etc etc on both vans.) I've also added in the Abelmail Bluetooth adapter to twerk the AMT settings...

Lithium LifePo4 12v Batteries - Time For An Upgrade?

Nice one, thank you. The van is a daily driver so the only time it doesn't get driven is the weekends basically. Should have said, the panel is one of the suitcase ones so it's not permanently connected. I like the idea of having all the data in one app and, as I said, I do trust the Victron...

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Installed a AMT 12-2 Trickle Charger between the Starter Battery and Leisure Battery. Re- instated my newly sprayed (Gloss Black) overhead lighting unit.

Electrics Upgrade - Am I nearly there?

I'd agree with the comments so far. With charge rate I'd keep the Orion XS around 30A for general use, it's kinder on the battery, charger and keeps the heat down. You can always bump it up to the full 50A for a the week or two you're off grid and really drawing on the battery. With the...

Voltage falls about a volt on unlock

Good suggestion with the AMT 12-2 @Dellmassive - Easily installed this tiny little thing today, (Hid it under the drivers seat with my Renogy 170Ah Lifepo4 and Victron 12-12/30 DC-DC charger.) Waiting on the BM2 to come tomorrow, but once I managed to set the thing up for Smart...

    Orion 12/12/18 keeps switching off

Chris Points in turn: Don’t worry about the SB for now if AMT is keeping it going. DC-DC output cable should be fused at LB end. Doesn’t need a fuse at Orion end. See the Victron instructions for a diagram. Thicker positive cable to rear will always be better voltage drop wise. Seem to...

Voltage falls about a volt on unlock

My relationship with the Ablemail AMT-12 was off to a rocky start as it would only charge with my starter battery when the lithium leisure bank was above 13.5V and the starter under 12.4V. This is well discussed by @Dellmassive on the following topic - BM2 update (To be fair this was detailed...

Voltage falls about a volt on unlock

sweet . . you know we all like pictures . . . so when you get a chance, post some. of the AMT12-2 and BM2 etc etc ... also do a few pics of your seat base build over here: https://www.t6forum.com/threads/seat-base-electric-ehu-solar-install-how-we-done-it.25368/ .

    Orion 12/12/18 keeps switching off

...electrics like a ferret and will write a comprehensive report. Main things as I understand. -Starter battery shagged (I knew this, as AMT 12-2 has been propping up). -increased size of positive cable to dc to dc (I used the original installed one with an inline midi fuse when I put lifepo...

[Guide] Battery Maintainer (for Starter battery) -- How I Done It --

Keeps mine at 12.6, I asked the same question last week and if the AMT wasn’t working it would drop below 12.
