...so will ask them to look at it this time.
But I noticed a slight gap in the black sheath that sits either side of the driver's window, that isn't there on the passenger side window. Could wateringress messing up some electronics to control the boot and automatic central locking be the issue...
Makes sense. I get a lot of condensation on the exposed metal parts in the boot when I'm using the van as a camper. Suspect it finds its way to said switch.
...each cabin seat, but as you’d likely have a rubber floor in that area, I’d be surprised if that was the one and only source of wateringress. Underbody splash panels should also inhibit this.

Thank you! I’ve only had the van for a few weeks so haven’t fitted anything additional to it. Taking it back to VW where I collected it from and will see what they suggest. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated!
Just wondering if anyone has noticed this issue or has had the same.
I recently noticed that I get wateringress / leak from inside the sliding door after rain.
I'm not entirely sure how it's getting in and I'm not sure of the component name but It seems to be coming from the latch or the part...
around the outer (rear facing) top-hat surface seal area? the wateringress always seems to be under the connection cover in mine (the wee black plastic 2 clip skirt thing) and in the 3 pin plug area too. id assumed it came from spray from tyres - but ill certainly try sealing the outer top-hat...
...I retro fitted a genuine reverse camera about 3 yrs ago. The rear camera has given up on me. I think the actual camera has died, maybe wateringress.
I’ve been looking for a replacement but they are £200 plus!
Has anyone managed to replace an OEM camera with a cheaper aftermarket version. I...
If wateringress is causing issues with sealed electrical components with an air pocket they can generally be filled with a re-enterable potting compound.
I’ve used similar in the marine environment and in some cases it’s the only way to keep water out...
I don't know for sure, but to me it looks possible that the heat exchanger has cracked in the recent freezing weather and split causing wateringress or the hot air system.
Was the van's water system drained down?
It would be interesting to see if @oldiebut goodie has any views on this, as I...
Thank you Niknak! I did this over a month ago after is got as bad as 50/50 if a side door would open from the outside on my T6 and the latch has worked faultlessly since. I bought a can of GT85 from Screwfix and did not need to drill a hole into the mechanism on mine as there was several gaps...
...split is still intact.
I only decided to replace the under tray as the dealer suggested the Aux engine heater could become damaged from wateringress if the cover was not replaced. (Highly unlikely IMO).
The new panel part number: 7E0825205G
Cost £110 from main dealer
I decided to fit the...
I fix loads of these. Usual issue is wateringress sometimes coupled with ham fisted construction at factory or impact damage.
Here's one I did this week. Same symptoms: S/S error on dash, comms error code with no power output from alternator.
Cut out the bad and replace with a good length...
There's lots of posts about various leaks and wateringress and condensation, but I wanted to post this as I have fixed my issue after months of checking and trying to identify the problem, so thought it might help someone.
I have a Shuttle, so twin slider, and have a kitchen pod behind the...
Thanks... couldn't find anything other than a few passing comments. Currently totally stripped out so being meticulous hunting issues down. Luckily the steps are mint. The worst this seapage has caused is long term rust marks from where paint has been abraded on the bottom of where the...
...has been removed, refitted and water tested which has of course been covered by warranty and that nothing else has been damaged by the wateringress. The headliner obviously hasn’t been removed as there is clearly some (what I hope is) residual water at the top of the A pillar which dripped...
I put some rivnuts in the roof bar and used some roofing washers I had left over from the leak free roof bar installation. When I’m not away camping I tighten them up so there’s no wateringress into the roof bar. I then just hook on the sail using some clips I had, very quick to put up
...the problem has now become so bad that the blind mechanism must have rusted/seized and the blind won't retract any longer.
Can anyone help identify where the wateringress is? It is not immediately clear to me where it is coming from as the door lining itself does not appear to be damp.
Thanks
