You might also want to have a read through this thread as mounting rails can lead to wateringress - not everyone's mounting kit works well but there are a few ways of improving things:

...clips. Just hold the plug, twist it about an eighth of a turn anti-clockwise and pull it out. Unplug the wire connection from the old bulb and connect it to the new one.
Top tip. Put a smear of vaseline on the rubber seal to prevent wateringress which will lead to condensation inside the...
...end purge the circular drain holes until they are clear.
Then, carefully replace the sliding window.
If you park the van nose down any wateringress will allow the drain holes to do their job. Nose up defies physics as water doesn't travel uphill.
It also helps if you never open the...
I would like a snorkel on our 2019 199 bhp Carevelle Exec 4Motion D/L. Often cross flooded roads in Wales and do not fancy bent con-rods and holes punched through the crankcase. As far as I understand it, the differentials axles ect do not have vented breathers but closed expansion tubes. I am...
Thank you! I took mine in as well and they left it under a hose for 3 hours and confirmed ‘there was a leak!’. Something to do with the door seal. It’s in today for a replacement seal so will report back when I know if that’s done the trick or not! Thanks.
Get somebody outside to use a hose while you watch inside, don’t spray all over, gradually move around the van and that should narrow down the entry point.
Hi all,
Sorry for slow update. Turns out the wateringress in the front footwell was because when the fitters installed the leisure battery, they ran the cables through the same hole in the bulkhead as that used by the tube that drains excess water from the the sunroof opening (brown tube in A...
Is anyone else having major issues with wateringress on the T6.1 sliding windows?
2nd units fitted in summer but they failed as soon as the first rain hit them. Been battling VW customer care ever since to rectify..

Quick check of the connector terminals with it all apart for wateringress / corrosion.
It will only activate the switch when unlocked as the wiring is controlled by the body control unit, so doesn't operate the handle...

When removing the factory fitted bolts from the roof, is there any special prep before fitting my new awning rail, it's come with rubber washers but is there anything else I could do to prevent wateringress?
I was thinking of heating the lens off of a halogen headlight to stick back onto a LED headlight that has a damaged lens?
I had a search about for someone doing something similar but came up with nothing.
Bought a debus canopy, 2x c-channel awning rails and figure of 8/kador strip pack. Got the 3m length as didn't fancy wateringress through them. These vans leak enough!. I've now got to get the non leaking roofbars off to fit them!!!!
...and closing every day, no lights on dash etc. And guess what folks the fault issue has come back today.
My thinking is that I have wateringress somewhere on that side which is getting into the control units affecting the doors. Last week the weather was quite mild and dry, however last...
was it raining by chance? have you recently had a windscreen replacement? any wateringress in the drivers footwell area?
just thinking out loud, but I cant see how the 2 circuits would be wired near each other, so id suspect the only point their signals will converge would be at the Body...
Finally got mine fixed after 3 different garages too lazy to investigate properly, Advised by the guy who had the patience AND know how that if it wasn't fixed it would put an undue strain on the smart alternator.
All fixed now, broken in 3 places, very thin wire used by VW which is unsuitably...
