...the back edge of the actual seatbase frame so a simple L shaped bar across the top front edge of the battery holds that firmly in place.
The DCC50S is held in place by the two slots I cut into the seatbase frame, this is just a sliding fit with the seat holding that in place when bolted down...
Yep, we’ve had one for a year and a half and it works perfectly. Not got any solar on the van so it’s permanently using 50A to charge the leisure battery. so on a two hour journey it will completely top up 100Ah lithium battery.
...of parts…
Leisure battery - I went with a Fogstar Drift 105ah and i located it on its side under driver seat
DC-DC charger - I got a Renogy DCC50S and also fitted under driver seat
Bluetooth module for the Renogy
I bought a couple of packs these to connect Renogy to ground, battery to...
If you connect the negative, then run and connect all the positive cables, connecting the battery end last, then FINALLY fit the fuse (LB<>DCC50S), what's the risk?
...of people using the 'Engineer's Rule Of Thumb' calculate the size, and double the actual size.
I'm going to be buying and fitting a Renogy DCC50S 50amp DC to DC booster for my leisure battery. The battery size is not relevant here as I want to future proof it, and the 30-50amp upgrade is...
They look a lot thinner than the Solar Suitcase I have. My Solar Suitcase is the 200W and comes in at £299 currently, but I bought mine a year ago for £270.

Thanks,
Looks like the ideal bit of kit! Will take a look at that now. I've had a good look through the How I Did Its, super help, i just had to check as my plan is a bit more simple, i may regret going too simple, but we have never required those other bits, surviving long weekends with USB and...
Can you connect the mega to the DCC50S, and also connect your PC to the RS485, then run Slave Simulator on the PC. You should be able to see the message MEGA>>DCC50S and the reply DCC50S>>MEGA
...too so long but hopefully, they will keep the communication line open until we have a resolution.
I've made up my own BVS now which i think will make the DCC50S work ok, but I'm hoping they will help me sort out the 180Ah leisure battery that now won't hold a charge because of the charger fault.
What's the Redarc one like compared to the Renogy?
Do you know how they manage to make is so small and with no heat sink, does it not get very hot working at 50A?
Hi I'm installing 200w solar to a split charge system as in your diagrams
I'm look at either the
Renology DCC50S 12V 50A DC-DC ON-BOARD BATTERY CHARGER WITH MPPT - seems nice n simple
or
Victron MPTT with the Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC Charger Isolated

i am about to spend on electrics now that my units and Titan Bed is on order.
I already have a Renogy DCC50s and its monitoring bluetooth but i have a query in regards to the USB control panel.

my advice, swap the CTEK D250SE out for a more lithium suitable dc-dc charger.
my preferred choice ATM is the RENOGY DCC50S: (can set current limiter 20/30/40/50A)

plus the BT adapter:

Sounds like you have a bad connection on either the positive from the alternator or the ground - or some other cause of high resistance. The resistance, and subsequent voltage drop during load is why it measures ok when it’s not connected and drops off when connected.
Hi Jason,
sorry I was not precise enough. I found different versions on the internet for this library, that is why I was asking.
using: ModbusMaster.h
I will also try this, as you proposed
. This is the advantage of the bus system of RS485
Thanks a lot
