£500ish

Hi all.
Long time reader here. Great to have such good helpful tips and tricks on here.
Let me cut to the chase..

I'm in a rare position where I've been given a £500 bonus from my gaffa and it's burning a hole in my pocket.

What would people advise I spend it on.
Obviously it can only go so far.
I could be boring and use it to fund the van tax for a year or pay some of my loan off but I'm thinking mods..

I've got a 2021 t6.1

But stuff on my list is
New headlights
Gladen appearance speakers
Fully sound deaden
Maybe rear lights

What would people suggest I spend it on.. it doesn't have to be any of those above. I'm curious as people's opinions matter.

Thanks all!

I'm quite boring, but I'd probably pay for the tax or insurance for the year.

Now I've spent all my money on coilovers, headlights, MIB2, big brakes...... :D

How about split it between everyone who replies with a suggestion - task being they have say one week to "invest" the share - and let's see how entrepreneurial we are and how much we've managed to grow* your investment

*may incur significant risk. No liability accepted.

I like your thinking, but maybe some tweaks...
  • Run the challenge over a full year
  • The person with the best returns gets to keep the money
  • Everyone else has to pay back the money (including any profit)
  • Anyone making a loss has to pay back the amount they were lent

Of course you could spend the money on your family, however by argument that could still include the vehicle. Safety might dictate that £500 could go towards, general maintenance, renewing the suspension for better quality components, a set of All Season tyres. All of which would benefit you and you families well being. £500 is useful but not a great amount of money this day and age but it would off set some of the discomfort of buying any of the above or all of them in the grand scheme of things.

Transfer the problem ownership by giving it to your other half and telling her she can do what she likes with it.

For the next 12 months, remain blame free from any purchase you make and haven’t consulted on!

For me it will sound proof. You should just about manage to sound deaden and insulate with that (depending on your end goal I suppose).

Although I’d really like some led headlights too

Good choice. It's one of few mods that would probably appeal to every potential new owner so would be something of an investment. Any styling changes, headlights included, might not be to everyones taste although in fairness, you could always swap back if you decide to sell in the future.

Absolutely nobody would object to the H4’s being binned in favour for any other headlights.
