150k+ mileage campers

Hi everyone.
I’m entering the market for a used Camper and have seen some in my price range. They are high milage vans, one is 150k miles but in pristine condition and has everything I need from a camper.

Should the mileage be my main concern or should I be buying in general condition?

It’s a 5.1 11 plate DSG.

As long as its been looked after there shouldn't be an issue. How its been used will also play a part though (i.e. mainly motorway miles, good long runs etc)

I'm selling mine on 145k miles and the engine is still perfect in my opinion (ex fleet van so lots of motorway miles)

Those miles wouldn't put me off at all, if the price, service history and general condition is right.
There are plenty of T5's and T6's around with much higher mileage and there are plenty of stories on here of vans going wrong in a big way at less than 50K miles. I'd expect an older van to be more reliable simply because the emissions related "add ons" are less complex.
Every vehicle purchase is a gamble, I guess we all know that.

Just throwing my two-pennith in... I have just bought a van on 125k, for a big chunk of my worth, with the intention of converting it and piling the miles on over the next 5-10 years. I wouldn't be doing that if I wasn't confident in the T5/6 platform.

My mum had a T5.1 she sold at 185k, and only sold it because of ULEZ. You only have to look at what mileage some of them are on (300k plus) to know that with proper maintenance they will look after you.

Bought mine on 150k. Now on 170k, no major issues beyond worn lower suspension bushes.

My T5.1 works van is on 179k now and runs and starts great.
Most expensive thing was the high pressure fuel pump went at 178k cost a grand.
I did however delete the EGR after it failed for the 3rd time
