Hi Everyone, I heard about some issues regarding poor oil control rings on pistons in EA888 gen 2 engines. Do you know if CJKA/CJKB are also struggling because of poor rings or this engine was upgraded?
That’s the first I have heard about any such issue. My TSI is only on about 60k, and is running fine.
Any supporting info or links for these concerns would be appreciated.
The Volkswagen EA888 Gen 2 engine, found in models such as the MK6 GTI, has been known to have oil consumption issues. This means that the engine burns an excessive amount of oil between servicing, but it can be fixed!

I spend some time yesterday, studying ETKA and CJKA/CJKB has same piston rings as CZZB after 2011. CZZB is definitely a EA888 gen 2 but... it seems the problem was mainly in engines with 1.5mm oil ring. CZZB after 2011 has 2mm oil rings, don't check which rings it has before 2011.
